Winfield sensed his world crumbled after hearing Blake's words.  The woman he married as his second wife was apparently responsible for Sarah's disappearance! At that point, all he could think about was hate. He hated himself and the woman who destroyed his family. Deep inside, he wondered, 'How could I ever tell Sarah?' His emotions were conflicted, unable to find the right words to explain himself. For now, all he could do was to ease her pain.
