ALEXANDER'S POV My vision was clouded as I drove, I had to pull over somewhere and let it all out. It was the second time in the month I was breaking down like that, but then what could I do? Wealth really didn't mean peace or happiness; it came with a lot of drama, and I was more than ready to let it go.I never knew Rubby would end up to mean so much to me, it broke my heart that my past had found a way to scatter the beautiful present I was building. And to think it was Josh, made my heart hurt the more.I pulled out my phone and scrolled through the endless list of numbers. I paused at Rubby's own, but instead of calling her, I edited the name I used in saving it, removing all the love emojis I had used initially.I kept scrolling until my eyes landed on another one, the man they said was my father. I still found it hard to call him my father, so it was even safer to refer to him by his name.I dialled the number and he took the call almost immediately."Hey, Alex."I inhaled dee

RUBBY'S POV "Trisha please," I folded my palms. Never had I ever been this scared of a girl like me."Why are you begging? Please for what?" She asked and retrieved her phone from her back pocket."You don't have to do this, we are friends....""Shut up!" She screamed. I had enraged her with the friend word."You've never been my friend. I remember clearly when you offered to give someone else your pencil after I had complained I didn't have one. Is that what friends do?"My lower lips shivered as I spoke, "Trisha, that's almost fifteen years ago; we were kids; besides, I had apologised for this the whole week; I also got you a box of pencils after that."She kept scrolling through her phone like my tears meant nothing, well, they actually meant nothing to her."Did you or did you not do it, Rubby?" I wiped the tear in my face and summoned the courage to answer just as it had happened."Trisha, you were being greedy; when you asked for the pencil, I offered to give you so that you c

ALEXANDER'S POV "That's the car there," Josh pointed."But why is the fire service coming this direction" I was still talking when people started running out screaming."Fire! Fire!" The basement."We were both lost; the car was packed beside the bakery, but the bakery was busy, as many workers walked in and out of the room."There is no way she would be there," Josh said aloud as though reading my thoughts."Out!" Someone shouted. "There are people in the basement.""Basement?" I and Josh said in unison. "The gym has a basement?"Thankfully, the fire service arrived just in time and began doing what they knew how to do best."We are wasting time; take this direction, and I will take the other; we need to find her now," Josh ordered.I hated the fact that he was dishing out instructions like I was his younger brother, I only ignored him for Rubby's sake."What!" I exclaimed when I saw a swarm of reporters coming in that direction."Oh shit," Josh exclaimed. None of us wanted to be se

KEVIN'S POVI sang along, "It's a beautiful day, we gonna have some fun today, oh baby, I think I want to marry you.""What a beautiful day," I exclaimed and even increased the volume of the music. Everything had gone as smoothly as planned, even extra. Now, just one step, and Wolfe's incorporation becomes mine.I pulled into the driveway and adjusted my collar; I needed to exude that air of superiority, the CEO kind of Aura.I had just walked into the living room when Alex's mom stepped out."Kevin, what's going on?""Oh, Laura. You must have seen the news." I flashed her the darkest smile I had."That's not the plan; you are acting out of script, Kevin; what exactly are you doing?" Her hands trembled slightly as she spoke.I did a little break dance, much to her irritation."Old woman, we struck a deal, and we both played our part; why, then, are you pained? Do I look so foolish to you? Do you think I suddenly had no interest in the seat? You must be a clown, just like your son.

ALEXANDER'S POV It was the second time in the month that I woke up with such head splitting headache.I held my temples with both hands as I stood up to clear the mess I had created the previous day."What happened?" I muttered and paused to enable me to recall what had happened the previous day."Oh," I exclaimed in realisation. The stunt Kevin had pulled, and the heartbreaking words Rubby had said to me.But my brain kept reminding me that I was forgetting something."What else?" I grumbled.I shrugged my shoulders when I couldn't remember, and continued cleaning the mess I had made.Midway into my cleaning services, my phone buzzed.I stared at it for a moment trying to recollect when and how I had seen that number, because it looked oddly familiar, till the call ended. Not even up to twenty seconds, it started ringing again, I was pushed to answer the call this time."Have you forgotten the board has a meeting today?" That was Kevin's voice, but that wasn't his number."Are you s
