•Vera POV•“Vera, are you sure you really want to do this?” Juliet asked when I told her about my decision to divorce Eric. We were sitting on the couch in the waiting area of the fashion industry.“Yes,” I nodded softly, even though my heart ached as I responded. “I have to. I don’t want to keep going through all this. Eric and I would never be together. Brooke made it clear, and I’m tired of fighting, thinking, and hoping for a peaceful moment with Eric.”Juliet gave me a sympathetic look. “I understand what you’re going through.” She stayed quiet for a while before looking up at me. “Though, I do feel bad for Eric. All this happening is also affecting him, and I don’t know how he would take this divorce thing.” She sighed, rubbing her temple. “You guys just got married. Jeez.”“I know, and I don’t feel good about this either,” I muttered, my eyes starting to get teary. I had been trying not to cry lately, but I kept failing at it.“I know you’ll be fine, and I totally support you o

•Vera POV•“Doctor, is my baby going to be okay?” I asked when he came to check on me after I woke up.He gave me a warm smile. “Yes, Miss Watson. You and your baby are in a healthy condition. As long as you don’t keep worrying and thinking too much, you’ll be fine.”“Okay, doctor,” I said softly, watching him check my pulse. He removed his stethoscope, placed it on my chest for a moment, then picked up his notepad from the nurse standing beside him. He wrote something down, handed it to her, and draped the stethoscope back around his neck.“That’s all for today, Miss Watson,” he continued. “I’ve informed your mother that you need to eat healthy. Do not skip your meals, and you can also do some light home workouts to help prepare your body for delivery.”“Thank you, doctor,” I said, placing my hand on my stomach.Without another word, he left, closing the door behind him.I took in a deep breath, trying to calm myself and not think of Eric. He didn’t matter now. That chapter of my lif

•Eric POV•I pushed open the door to my hotel apartment and walked in slowly, like my body weighed twice as much as it used to. I dropped my keys on the table, the sound echoing in the quiet room, then shrugged out of my jacket and tossed it carelessly on the bed before sinking into it.The mattress dipped under my weight, but it didn’t bring any comfort.I buried my face in my palms and let out a rough breath, dragging my hands down slowly. My chest felt tight, like something heavy was sitting there and refusing to move. No matter how hard I tried, my mind wouldn’t rest.Everything replayed again. The wedding, the hospital and the divorce papers. The fact that I got married and divorced almost the same day made everything feel blurry, unreal. Like it wasn’t my life. Like I was watching someone else’s pain from a distance.I closed my eyes. I wished I could see Vera.Just talk to her. Hear her voice. Explain myself properly. Tell her that I never wanted any of this. That I didn’t choo

•Vera POV•“Have you thought of a name?” Juliet asked as she stepped forward to stare at my baby’s face, taking her tiny hand gently.“Not yet, I…” I mumbled, my voice trailing off as my thoughts drifted to Eric. How much I wished he could be here, just for a second, to see how beautiful our daughter was. My chest tightened when reality hit me again. I couldn’t tell him. I couldn’t put my baby at risk because of his mom drama.“I know you’re thinking about Eric,” Juliet said softly. She must have noticed the look on my face. “Don’t worry, everything is going to be alright.”I gave Juliet a small smile before looking back down at my baby. She was so tiny in my arms, her skin soft and warm against mine. Her cheeks were round and pink, her lips slightly parted as she slept, making small pouty movements like she was already annoyed with the world. A thin layer of dark hair rested on her head, and her lashes were so long it almost didn’t make sense. Her fingers curled around my thumb, hold

•Eric POV•I wrapped my arm around Vera in an embrace as she sobbed on my shoulder, her tears soaking the polo shirt I had on in that region. Her body shook against mine, every cry cutting straight through my chest. My heart ached badly. I had reacted the same way Vera did when I first heard that she had given birth and I wasn’t there to be with her… then the baby went missing. It was too much to process. But when I saw Vera lying on the bed, unconscious, what was left of my heart shattered into pieces. I had thought nothing could hurt worse than that moment, but this—this was a pain I didn’t know how to survive.“Eric, I’m tired,” she cried, sniffling as she pulled away.I reached forward and wiped her tears with my palm, my thumb trembling against her cheek.“Everything is going to be alright. We’re going to find her,” I told her, my voice slightly wavering because I wasn’t even sure of what I was saying.I didn’t even get the chance to see my daughter. Didn’t get to hold her in my
