Alaric's Pov “You…” Rhea raised her palms to cover her mouth, a gasp escaping her lips, “You killed Ginny and Kevin? How did you… Why…?!” “They were the ones who caused your death, so they deserved to die. After everything you sacrificed for them in that life, they weren't thankful, no, not at all. Instead, they scored you, they insulted you, they even spread rumours about you! Why couldn't I kill them?!” After Rhea was pronounced dead, it felt like I had lost everything. I blamed myself for not looking after her enough, I told myself over and over again that maybe if I had forced her to be with me, she wouldn't be dead. Even if she hated me, I could take it, but she wouldn't be dead, she would still be alive and that bastard along with the rest of that family wouldn't have maltreated her this way. Deep down, I resented her for being stupid. If she had seen Kevin's true colours, if she didn't fall in love with all her heart, she would have been able to break free. However, how is

Rhea's Pov “From today, Ginny will take over as the CEO of this company and I will officially step down from the position as I have to recuperate at home.” I announced it in the meeting room where all of the employees were seated. Ginny stood beside her, a wide smile on her face; she just could not wait to take over. But it wasn't my business, for now, I had other things to take care of. I turned to leave the meeting room, the sound of polite claps and Ginny’s forced little “thank you” speech fading behind me. My bag was already over my shoulder, my phone in my hand. I had no intention of lingering in this place any longer than necessary. But just as I reached the doorway, a familiar voice called out, “Rhea, wait.” It was Howard. I stopped, not because I wanted to, but because he was blocking my path with that smug, managerial smile of his. Behind him, I could see a few department heads craning their necks to watch, like they were waiting for the next act in a play. “You made a

Rhea's Pov Howard’s jaw worked furiously, but I didn’t give him the chance to speak, “So go ahead and disown me. Announce it to the world if you want. But understand this, when the Thornes fall, and they will, don’t you dare try to crawl back to me.”“In what word do you think the Thorne's will fall? Just because you're angry that I'm taking over the company, you're cursing the company?” Ginny sounded angry. I smirked and walked towards her, “Cursing? Once I take back everything I put into this company, it's only a matter of time before it falls to the ground. I don't even have to try anything. By the way… A few people are here to put in their resignations.” “Resignations? What do you… mean?” Ginny trailed off the moment she saw Fiona come into the company, along with a few other employees. Especially the ones who were brought into the company after I had fired those corrupt ones. Each and every one of them were holding a small envelope which held their resignation letters. “What…

Rhea's Pov “He's being chased? What else did you notice?” I asked eagerly, noticing the looks that passed between the Martins. I coughed softly, lowering my voice a bit, “Actually, I know who this Victor Grant is.” I confessed, watching as their eyes widened a bit. “You know him?! Then why…” “I wanted to know if it was the same person I was thinking of. It was only after you mentioned that he got married and his wife had been missing for a few days that I fully realised that it truly was him. I'm sure my assistant told you that I had been in a coma until a few days ago. His wife is named Ava Laurent, correct?” “Yes, yes. That's true.” “She's actually a friend of mine. I was told that she had asked for my help during the time I was in a coma but I wasn't able to help her due to my circumstances and I regret it. And now, she has disappeared.” I sniffled, my eyes were becoming a bit teary, “I was already thinking of how to get leads to figure out where she is and now, he's also conn

Rhea's Pov His lips parted, but no words came.“I’ll tell you what.” I continued, my tone turning cool and razor-sharp, “I promise you all who are resigning from this place today, in my honour, that in just a few days, I’ll make sure every single person here is fixed up in a position far better than this place. And it won’t matter what little phone calls you make or whose ear you try to whisper in because you’ll be the one with no credibility left.”I turned my attention to the others, my voice softening just enough, “Go. Prepare your things. I’ll handle the rest.”“Thank you so much Miss Rhea. It's because of you that we were able to have the opportunity to work here in the first place. We will never betray you."“It's no problem. Even if you chose to continue working here, I wouldn't blame you. One has to make money after all. Go on, Fiona will address you all later.” I smiled, gesturing for them to go and process their resignation. After they left, I turned to face the remaining p
