  Jasper’s POV The second we stepped back into the room with the guy, I felt something was wrong. Tara wasn’t on the bed. I had only stepped out to ease myself, and now what? What’s happening here?  The door was still half-open, just the way Xavier left it. The bed was empty, rumpled, sure, but empty. No sign of her anywhere. The water bottle was untouched on the nightstand. Xavier froze beside me, blinking in confusion. The guy we paid stepped in behind us, already looking annoyed. His brows drew together when he saw the room. “The hell is this?” he snapped. “You said she’d be here.” He added.  

Tara’s POV I was having the most incredible dream. I was cuddled up with this gorgeous guy, and everything felt so warm and perfect. Without thinking, I shifted closer, letting my thigh slide over his bare lap as I rested my head against his chest. His skin was so warm, and I could hear his heartbeat beneath my ear.This had to be a dream. Things like this didn't happen to me in real life.But slowly, I started to feel more awake. My head was pounding, and my mouth felt like cotton. The warmth beneath my cheek was too real, too solid. My hands were clenched as I replayed the morning over and over in my head.Jasper sat beside me in complete silence, which was probably for the best.
