IRA'S POV"Paris?" I asked as soon as the intercom went off, alerting us of our destination."What better place to kick-start our pre-wedding trip than the City of Love?" he mused, taking my hand as he led us to the fleet of cars parked by the hangar.Just how influential was this man to be able to pull this off?"They are all compelled," Lucius' voice filtered into my mind frame.I blinked, wondering if I was hearing things. His lips twitched to a smile, which told me I was, in fact, not hearing things."Get out of my head!" I snapped, trying to put up mental blocks like Dexter taught me."It's useless," Lucius said as we stepped into the car. "I can get through even the strongest mind. Yours is merely a walk in the park."My face turned aghast. How long had he been privy to my thoughts?"Long enough," he responded, confirming my suspicion."You're unbelievable," I muttered, stunned at his unashamedness. He smirked, looking out the window as the car moved. "Trust me, love, you have n

IRAI was determined not to have a good time today. But Lucius made it impossible to achieve. Starting from our visit to the mall. Long story short, we ended up walking away with the entire store of clothes worth millions. How he managed to afford that remained a mystery. After an extravagant breakfast which we had at a luxury hotel, we spent the entire day touring the city of Paris, browsing through stalls in the main city.At about noon, Lucius led us to a park where we had a picnic in front of a river. The entire park was empty and intimate, giving off a serene environment we'd missed all day."It's beautiful," I gushed, referring to the skyline and river. "How is it that there is no one here? Compared to the heavily packed roads, it seems like they all disappeared.""I cleared out the place," Lucius said, taking a seat on the grass."What?""I'd rather not have a bunch of blood banks walking around when I am this close to snagging one of them and taking my fill."I stiffened at hi

IRALucius led me to the dining, hand in hand. The mate bond thrived between us as soon as our hands made contact with each other. My body tingled, and I wondered if he felt it too.Lucius dragged a chair, leading me to the table, which was brandished with all sorts of aromatic meals. I took a seat, silently thanking him as he made his way across me, taking a seat too."These smell amazing," I broke the silence with an awkward smile as I shifted on my seat. "I should thank the chefs for their hard work."Lucius' gaze fixated on me, the ghost of his earlier reaction still prominent on his face. He hummed at my words, not saying a thing as he plated my meal, slicing a steak into small bits. After sharing a meal with Lucius a couple of times, I became conversant with how things went. Lucius always plated my meals, something I was pretty certain was his way of caring for me.Or rather, Odette. While the thought of him taking care of me like he would his late wife rubbed me the wrong way,

IRA'S POVEverything happened so fast.In one moment, the fog was coming right at me, and the next moment, a transparent glass appeared right in front of me, sealing the open door.An earth-shaking squeal hit the air as soon as the fog made contact with the transparent glass, which sucked it in while it struggled to be let go.I fell on my butt, eyes wide as I watched the fog squeal until it was locked into the transparent barrier, turning it dark so I couldn't see the other end of the hallway."Ira!" Lucius cried desperately while my heart beat erratically. "Can you hear me? Are you in there?!" he screeched, panic in his voice.I couldn't speak; my ears pounded as I tried to come to terms with the fact that I nearly walked into another portal. I'd nearly been taken away to God knows where.I took a deep breath, trying to organise my thoughts while Lucius spoke from the other end of the door. He'd known that it was not real. He'd known that it was not Eros. But I didn't.Which begged

IRAMy heart pounded erratically as I stared at him, frozen to my feet. He didn't do it. The words reiterated themselves in my head, playing like a never-ending loop.He was no murderer. My heart stung at the burdens placed on his shoulders as a result of one man. I swallowed hard, suddenly at a loss for words. There was nothing else to say. Nothing that would excuse the fact that I had so critically judged him without a shred of doubt. I'd banished him to the fiery parts of hell in my heart, while the entire time he was a victim. He was a victim forced to undertake the reins of a villain in a bid to protect his people. Lucius's eyes were intense, and his breaths labored. How did I get it so wrong? The air crackled with tension as we stood in silence, not saying a word to each other and yet feeling everything. My throat constricted and my heart pounded as the bond roared alive, tugging at my heart and sending a gnawing feeling down my core."Lucius..." I breathed, my hand moving to to
