The morning sun lit up the packhouse halls, but my heart wasn't warmed by the brightness. Thoughts from yesterday still lingered in my mind. It's been over 12 hours now and Aether hasn’t reached out to me yet, nor have I heard a word from him. I stood in front of the huge mirror in my room, combing my fingers through my hair. And then I spotted Gladys, my once-trusted personal helper. She had come in to change the beddings, and her eyes looked as if she had something to conceal. "Gladys," I called out, turning to face her. "Why did you touch Aether like that yesterday?" Gladys blinked, innocently. Too innocent. "Touch him?" she said with a quiet smile, folding her hands neatly in front of her apron. "Oh no, my Lady, I was simply trying to adjust his collar, nothing more."
