Jane"Jane! So glad you came," Rebecca says through a mouth full of food, but I can't tear my eyes away from the man staring back at me. He looks the same, smells the same, and I am sure if it were just him and me in this room, he would act the same. "This is my father, Derrick, the previous King of Wolves," Alpha Lucas says with pride, and I drop my gaze from the man. I never knew his name or why he came once a year, but he never went on a visit without seeing me. "Say something, mutt!" The old man shouts at me from his seat, but immediately starts coughing after shouting. "Nice to meet you, sir," I say quickly, startled into a jump, not looking up at him. The room feels like it is sinking in around me, and I know they can hear the increase in my heart rate, but I can't slow it down. "Dad!" Both Rebecca and Alpha Lucas shout at the same time, but the old man only waves his napkin at us as he coughs into his arm. "Don't listen to him, sweetie. Here, get some food," their mom says

JaneI made myself comfortable on the floor again for the night, reliving the same nightmares as soon as my eyes close. When morning comes, I am taken out of it by the soft sound of the doorknob shaking. Instantly, I push myself further into the corner behind the bed so whoever is coming in won't be able to see me. They are only in the room for a few moments before leaving, closing the door behind them quietly. When I finally gain the nerve to stand up, I find a plate of breakfast foods with a cup of coffee next to it. New clothes are laid out on the bed, and I am comforted when it is a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt. JaneI had spent all day in my bedroom after Rebecca finished fixing my shoulder. The chair that I brought to the front of the window provided the perfect place to read, which is something I haven't done a lot of in the last 13 years. I wasn't allowed to have books in the dungeon or any form of entertainment. My reading is very slow because of it. When I found a few books in the drawer of the nightstand, I decided to ease myself back into it. It wasn't until about noon the following day that there was a knock on my door. LucasI heard his words before I was fully awake from the drugs that numbed my pain. The way they were forced out through his clenched teeth, and the snarls that came from his wolf as he said them. I could smell her in the room. Her frost and lemon scent fills the room that she walks in. The sound of the monitor behind me going into a flat beep rings in my ears as I pull the needles out of my arm, and the stickers off my head. It takes all my effort to be able to swing my legs off the bed, standing to them just as I hear the sound of a slam against something in the front lobby. The sound is instantly met with Rebecca's shout, and I stumble to the door frame, trying to get to them.When I finally pull the door open, rounding the corner to the hallway, I have a straight view of what he is doing to her. I can't hold back the growl that comes from my wolf, and the pain in my stomach seems like a distant memory as I look at Jane's terrified expression. It's not the same accepting look she
