AIDEN'S POV "Aunt?" "Hello, Aiden," she said with a huge smile. "It's been ages." Giving me a tight hug, she pinched my ears. When would she learn to stop doing that? My aunt, Rosa Armstrong, is a badass—not just a mafia princess but also a skilled mercenary and hunter... a human hunter, if you know what I mean. "You didn't tell me you were coming to New York. I would have—" "Told you, and missed out on this fun experience? No way." "I agree," I said with a smile. Honestly, this little brawl was exactly what I needed. "Let's get you home, Aunt Rosa. You'll be staying at my place, right?" "Yeah, a day or two, then I'll be heading to New Mexico for some business. Finding you at a hospital was a bit of a surprise, but you seem fine. Are you hurt?" "No, I'm fine. My wife's the one who's hurt... she was attacked." My aunt stared at me, open-mouthed. "Wife? When... how? Silly kid, you've been keeping secrets." "Was there ever a time I wasn't?" "True talk. We'll talk about the marr

AIDEN'S POV Fear isn't something I love feeling. To tell the truth, I don't like feeling anything that not the rush of a energy in a fighting ring or a normal street fight and the feeling of having complete control of everything. "Rudy, you know what to do, step on the Damn gass." "Yes, boss." I tried calling Simon over and over again, why wasn't he picking up the phone! I have to stay calm, it's a hospital, certain nothing crazy could occur there...right? "Aiden...Aiden!" I was snapped out of my thoughts by Rosa. "Your phone's ringing." Where the hell was my mind at? "Boss, there's an issue with your wife, she appeared to have fallen into a bad state and had to be taken into the operating room for some reason." "Idiot! This better be a joke Simon. What did I tell you!" I said through gritted teeth. I had told him not to let no suspicious doctor or nurse in there. Could I no longer rely on my mens efficiency? "Boss, they were real nurses and it seemed real...Mrs. Arms

AIDEN'S POV Sometimes leniency is not something to opt for. Give second chances and regret seconds later. I headed to the room where the Martin's agent... the one who had led us right into a trap was. "Sir, Mr. Clifford Is here to see you." Stephan had a way of bringing information at the wrong time. Well, right time actually, way too early but wrong time all together. "Where is he?" "He's currently at the home bar." Not surprised to hear that in the least. The man had a taste for alcohol. I headed to the home bar, abandoning my plans for later. "To what the I owe this pleasant surprise?" it was not pleasant in the least, I already knew his purpose for coming here but for formalities sake. "I'm sure you were informed about my request by Santiago or is Santos. I am here to make it officially known to you that I request you marry my daughter, Zoe Moreli, thereby connecting both families. If one is under duress, the other is too. We fight together and together, we will be

AIDEN'S POV "You moron!" Sydney shouted at me. "Watch your words, woman!" Being my cousin doesn't give her the right to disrespect me. I stared at nothing in particular as I kept swirling my drink. "You should have been more careful Aiden? or at least, try to talk to her—" "Leave!" I ordered her out. The last thing I need is someone running their mouth at me. "What?!" "You heard me. Leave, now!" "You're such a— Arrgh! never mind." She stormed out angrily. What does she expect me to do? Run after a girl and apologize for living my life? The guy she was so worried I killed had killed three people barely three minutes before I shot him. I didn't see her complain about me killing the guy that shot her now, did she? Nah, this is just an excuse to try and stay away from me—Of course! It doesn't matter if she wants to stay away from me, if I want her close, beside me, on top of me, she will be. Enough with this nonsense. The next day, I awoke to the sound of my own glass s

AIDEN'S POV "What a perfectly timed visit Clifford." Every step I took, a slow calculated movement with my eyes on the target like a panther who had spotted an unknowing prey unaware of the situation he's in. "So according to our deal Aiden, I have access to some warehouses, to sell, make certain deals with good connections—with your permission of course. Tell me one good reason why I was refused entry and even fired at today?" "You had access, not anymore." "What do you mean? I haven't cancelled the deal yet." I pulled out a cigarette from my pocket, lit it, puffed a bit of smoke while staring hard at this betrayer. Damn! I'd been so stupid. How didn't I notice anything? They'd promised to show up and help when were under attack and never showed up. "Your audacity is quite admirable. How many cents were you given?" "What in god's name are you talking about, Aiden?" Taking a seat, I relaxed, puffed more smoke and gave Moreli a telling smile. "What do you think?" "How
