DEVON walked briskly through the dark bush path in the middle of the night, already sighting his mother who stood in wait at the boundary of Shadow Fang province. "Devon!" she called out the moment she saw him. "Mother," he muttered flatly, covering the space between them. "Come here, my sweet boy," she cooed, spreading open her arms for a hug. It had been a while since they last saw each other. Precisely, it was on the very night months ago, when he had snuck into Shadow Fang with the intent of sending a warning across to prince Zayn. Devon and his mother hugged each other and when they pulled apart, she closely observed him. "You don't seem glad to see me," she muttered, trying to hide the subtle look of displeasure on her face.
