My eyes flew open, and through the blur of water and tears, I saw him.Lucas.His face was inches from mine, his eyes filled with concentration as he breathed into my mouth again. His hands pressed against my chest, rhythmic and firm.I gasped, sucking in air that burned like fire. More water came up, and I turned my head to the side, retching onto the riverbank.“That’s it,” Lucas said, his voice rough. “Breathe.”I collapsed back against the ground, my whole body shaking.
