Desiree’s POV I look at the note in my hand, my thumb tracing on the side of the paper as I try to force down a laugh. “Let me fix it, Des. Trust me for just one night.”I let out a soft sigh, the anger that kept me suffocating all morning finally beginning to evaporate without even saying too much. I glare up at Kael, who is still standing there like a statue, sweating under his collar as he waits for my execution or my compliance. “He really thinks he can just send a bunch of weeds and make everything fine, doesn't he?” I ask, though the small smile playing on my lips betrays my words and I know it's the work of my wolf, Lia. Ronan lets out a loud chuckle from behind the desk, leaning back in his chair. “Hey, don’t look at me, Des. In the South, we send jewels. The North is clearly... a bit more rustic.
