CharlesI should have worked and thought faster. I should have figured out that Darcie was in trouble, instead I thought she just lost feelings for me. I missed her so much. I want to hug her tight for an hour, hold her hands and comfort her and I'll get justice for everything terrible that she's been through. Right now, I'm driving to Aurelia city. It's already late at night but I still want to find her tonight. I can't wait any longer. I had almost reached the bride between the valley and the hill, wanting to leave Aurelia city by all means but I slowed down instantly. A line of cars stretched ahead of me. Then, red and blue lights bled across my windshield. One of the officers stepped down from the car and flashed his light. I rolled my window down and poked my head. Cold hit my face at first. “Hey. What's going on sir?”“Road's damaged. Mr Sterling.”He noticed. “Big crack down the middle. But we're working on it.” He nodded. “Tonight. So no one's crossing.”My throat went dry

CharlesI pulled into the first shopping mall I saw. I walked out my car shirtless with bruises. I just walked with giving a damn the number of eyes that were staring at me. The automatic door slid open and I walked towards the front desk. The woman looked up from her phone, her face changed the moment she stared at my face. I pointed to my split lips, bruised face and body. “Got anything I could use to clean this up?”Her eyes went wide. “Well, yes.” She stood up and walked towards a counter. I followed her and she gave me bandages, wipes and gauze. “Thanks.” I grabbed it from her and went straight to the clothing section, grabbed the first black shirt off the rack and walked back to the desk to make payment. I went back to my car and shut the door behind, breathing quietly. I hissed while dressing each wound. They hurt. “Fucking hell.” I scoffed as pain shot through my ribs. When I finally finished everything, I put the black shirt on and disposed of the used cotton wool. I shoul

Charles “What is it that you want, Scott?”“Me? I should be asking you that question! Darcie isn't your girlfriend. She's mine.”“Yours? If she really is yours, you wouldn't punish her like this. So, what is your problem?”“My problem is that I want you to leave.”I started fumbling for words. “I…you…Fine. I'll leave. On one condition.”“You've got guts”“Please. Just one thing I want to ask for.”“And?”“Let me talk to Darcie. Just a second. I promise, she'll be yours as long as you want to.”“No.”“I would leave her life and yours and go back to Sloane the moment you let me talk to her. It's a promise. And after this I don't care what you do to her. Even if you want to kill her.”He kept quiet, like he was thinking. “Why should I trust you?”I laughed. “You have the upper hand. I'm unarmed. You are.” I pointed to the knife at his hands and he looked down at it, then released a heavy breath before he stood up, pushed Darcie like a toy at me, I caught her and she fell like a log of w

Charles “I'm sorry. You don't deserve any of these.” I patted her back slowly. She sobbed into my arms. “Why did they kill him? What did he do?” Her voice choked as she fought to talk. I couldn't help but pity her. Her mental health could be at stake following all things she's been through from the start. Everything is my father's fault. He started by destroying her father, then she suffered in my home. And after leaving, it worsened. “I'm still trying to find out. I really don't know who and why?” I rubbed my neck. “He didn't get justice. He didn't get his company back.” She wiped her tears and inhaled sharply. “God, I just want to die. Please end my life already. I can't take this anymore.”“Please. Don't say that. Please, Darcie. You can still be happy again.”She finally looked at me. Like shooting an ugly glare intensely. “Happiness? I left the hill to find happiness but guess what? Life was more hell. They killed my father. I had nowhere to go. Scott came in. Something hap

Charles The heavy words dropped. The room went dead. Just that sentence hanging there. My hands fisted at my sides. Pregnant. Her breathing increased and she touched her stomach. I was at loss for words with an unfocused gaze. I was busy worrying about Darcie and her health and now, Sloane just barges in to tell me this. “Excuse me. Come again?”“I said I'm pregnant.”I laughed. “So, why are you here? Don't you know the road to whoever is responsible?”She stared at me with disgust. “Excuse me? I'm at his house.”“You're joking. Get out.” I said. My voice didn’t sound like mine. Sloane blinked. "Charles—""I said get out." I knew Sloane too well. She hates pregnancies. She always did the necessary thing whenever we had sex. It's either she's lying or she's lying. “Really? You won't take responsibility? Are you stupid? Do you want me to cause a scene in this house? Mom, Dad!” Her voice was loud. The audacity to even address them as her parents. When I turned, my parents wer
