~Akia~I groan and move my body. My head hurts a bit, and my body is a little sore. I’m lying on something soft, so that’s something. ~Apollo~I sit back in the chair, my eyes never leaving her. I don’t know what’s wrong with her, but clearly something is. How else do you explain her passing out twice in one night? That’s a valid question, but one I’d rather not consider. I guess I don’t really want to make any choices right now. ~Roul~I open my eyes, and I can tell the exact moment that she realizes that there’s been a switch. She steps back in a bit of a panic. I reach forward, quickly and pull her forward by her hips. ~Apollo~We both watch her walk out, and I can’t tell you how strong the urge is to follow behind her. I just want to spend every second with her, but I have a feeling that Atlas wants to talk. I have no idea what he wants to talk about, but I need to say my piece first. The only problem is that I don’t think he will take me as seriously as I need to be taken.I walk to the sitting area of the office and plop on the couch. Breakfast starts innocently enough. Apollo takes over the conversation, talking about the pack. I’m invested in every word that comes out of his mouth, and Atlas is invested in his meal. His cuts are precise, and nothing is messy on his plate. The meal is slightly awkward at the moment, but I’m sure all we need is time to figure each other out.Atlas clears his throat and puts his fork down on his plate. He dabs at his mouth with his napkin and places his elbows on the table, steepling his fingers. “Tell us about you, Akia. Where are you from? How’d you end up here?” I knew this was coming, this line of questioning. I had just hoped that I’d have a little more time to pretend.As much as I don’t want this, I guess it’s better to come from you now than to wait until later. ~Akia~My breathing quickens, and my body begins to tremble. Some of it is the mate bond, being this close to all of my mates at the same time. The rest of it is unease. It isn’t that I’m scared of Ares, though I’m worried about what he will say about the fact that he couldn’t reach me all night. It’s more of an unease because I don’t know what to say. He kept this part of him and his name a secret for a reason. How do I approach the topic to find out what that reason is?Thankfully, I don’t have to have that answer yet, because my other mates rescue me. “Not right now, Ares.” Apollo’s hand tightens on mine. “We were just discussing something heavy, and I think she can use a break before starting another heavy conversation.”“I’m sure that she’ll be fine. Selene disowned me and sent me with Nyx. The rest of my time was filled with torture. It’s the kind of thing where it’s endless, there’s no way to escape and no reprieve from it. I plotted and planned because there was no way I was going to spend eternity like that. I had to get out and make it back to earth. It took centuries for me to finally find a way to break free.I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice it to say, I made it out. When I left, I ended up in Selene’s world. I had to sneak around, but I finally found where the ‘baby’ wolves were. He should have grabbed her, made her go with him, but he didn’t want to cause a scene in front of his brothers.
