Soyera POVWeeks passed. The fortress slowly settled into a routine of preparation and waiting. Every morning, the soldiers trained until their bodies could barely move. The walls were reinforced with stone and magic, while food, weapons, and medical supplies were stored wherever we could find space.Jax spent most of his time in the mountain passes, setting traps and preparing avalanches. Salias stayed up late studying old maps, searching for anything that could give us an advantage. Lucius drilled the soldiers until they could move together without needing to be told what came next. And I waited.Every morning, I climbed the battlements and stared at the mountains. Every night, I went to bed wondering if I'd wake up to the sound of horns and screams. The waiting was slowly getting to me. Not knowing when Leonard would attack was almost worse than the thought of the battle itself.Still, I wasn't alone. The brothers were with me. Maya was always nearby, usually curled around my feet

Soraya's POVJax was still in the infirmary when Salias found me. It was late. Most of the fortress had gone quiet, but I hadn't slept. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Jax stumbling out of that tunnel, covered in blood.I was sitting beside his bed when Salias appeared in the doorway."How is he?"I looked at Jax. He was asleep now, his side bandaged and his breathing steady. "He'll live."Salias nodded. "Good."There was something strange in his expression. "What is it?"He hesitated. "I think I found something."I stood. "What?""Come with me."The war room was almost empty. A few candles burned on the table, throwing shadows across the maps. Salias walked toward the eastern wall and pulled down an old parchment. I'd seen it before. It was covered in strange symbols, most of them written in a language I couldn't understand."What is that?""Blackwood magic." I frowned. "Ancient Blackwood magic." He spread the parchment across the table. "Remember when I told you Leonard wasn't co

Soraya's POVI stood over Leonard's broken body, my chest heaving, blood dripping from my wounds onto the stone courtyard. His wolf form had retreated. He was human again. Beaten. Defeated. It was over. The nightmare that had haunted me for years was finally finished. The monster who had hunted me across kingdoms was lying at my feet, broken and powerless. I could feel the bond pulsing in my chest, Lucius's strength, Salias's steady presence, Jax's fierce pride. They were there. I wasn't alone.I took a shaky breath. "It's over."Leonard's eyes fluttered open. They were human now. No crimson glow. No darkness. Just tired, broken eyes that looked up at me with something I couldn't quite read."Soraya." His voice was weak. Rattling. "You think... you've won?"I stared at him. "I have won."He laughed. It was a horrible sound, wet and broken. "You have no idea what you've done."My stomach tightened. "What are you talking about?"He tried to push himself up. Failed. His body was too weak

Soraya's POVI nodded and let them lead me away from the battlefield. My body felt heavier with every step. The golden light had disappeared from my eyes, and my claws had returned to normal, but something inside me still felt strange. The power that had surged through my body only moments ago was gone, leaving behind a deep exhaustion that seemed to settle into my bones.Lucius walked on my left. Salias stayed on my right. Jax followed closely behind us.For the first time since the battle began, I allowed myself to breathe. The fortress was damaged, but it was still standing. Our soldiers were beginning to regroup, and the wounded were being carried toward the infirmary. We had survived.I should have felt relieved. Instead, a strange weakness spread through my body.I stopped walking.Lucius immediately turned toward me. "Soraya?""I'm fine."The words barely left my mouth. My vision blurred. I blinked several times, trying to clear it.Jax stepped closer. "You don't look fine.""I

Soraya's POVI didn't sleep that night.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw the golden light. The ancient woman. The burning records. The warning carved into the parchment. When the Queen of Blood awakens, the three heirs must return to where the blood began.I didn't know what it meant. I didn't know who the three heirs were. But something told me I was about to find out.The first light of dawn crept through the window. I sat up slowly, my body still aching from the battle. Maya stirred beside me.You didn't sleep."No."You need rest."I need answers more."She didn't argue. She knew I was right.I found Lucius in the war room.He was standing near the table, staring at the map of the Frostfang Mountains. Salias was beside him, his brow furrowed in concentration. Jax leaned against the wall, his arms crossed. They looked up when I entered."You're up early," Lucius said."Couldn't sleep.""Same." Jax pushed off the wall. "So what's the plan?"I walked to the table and looked at the
