Linessa sat in the cold, dirty dungeon. It smelled rotten down here, a pungent scent that she’d been dwelling in for three days. Her legs felt weak even though she barely moved since she came down here.She’d mostly been sitting…waiting, for him. Kenneth Drew; the love of her life…the same man the pack thought she didn’t deserve because she was infertile. Did he think so too? Since she’d been in captivity, he hadn’t come see her. No, she shook her head, the act making her feel a little dizzy. Kenneth didn’t think so, he told her…in fact, he promised her that he’d get her out of here. He said he’d try every way possible to get them to accept her again. That’s what he was doing now, he couldn’t waste any time coming down here, her trial was tomorrow night. You see, this was the Night Howl Pack’s custom; a cruel tradition that she had tried to get rid of since the very moment she became Luna. Women were treated like mere breeders, the only thing that made them the least bit admirable

"Shall my trial begin?"He looked at her, his stare was cold, no empathy even though he was looking at his Luna. “Yes," he intoned, the word echoing across the now silent grounds. "We shall begin your trial." The elder stepped forward, clearing his throat to begin. "Linessa Raven, are the charges brought up against you true? Are you unfit to bear a child, thus rendering you unworthy to be a mate and, consequently, a Luna?"“I confess that I am unfit to bear a child, but that doesn’t implicate my duty as a mate or a Luna.”“I doubt that Miss Raven, one of a Luna’s main duty is to bear the alpha a child. If you are unable to do that, then that title doesn’t belong to you and neither does the title of being a woman. Linessa’s eyes blinked open, blurrily focusing on the ceiling light above her head. She wasn’t laying on the forest floors anymore; instead she laid on something soft and warm.Her muscles were weak, protesting at every movement she tried to make, and though her eyes couldn’t see much, she could smell everything. However, one scent stood out most; impossibly potent. It was a fierce blend of cedar and a sharp, metallic frost-tinged ozone. It was the unmistakable, overpowering scent of an Alpha whose strength surpassed Kenneth’s by far.But there was something off about it...something she couldn't quite pin.Tilting her head to the side, she looked around the room, blurry eyes focusing on the source of the scent. A man, standing casually by the door. He was tall, thick with muscles and his sharp eyes pointed directly at her; displaying a surprised yet relieved gaze. “You’re awake.” His casual composure immediately dispersed, and he rushed over to her. “You’ve been unconscious for two d
