บททั้งหมดของ TOO LATE TO WANT ME: บทที่ 41 - บทที่ 50

~MATT~I walked toward the living room and stopped at the entrance.Olivia was sitting on the rug near the sofa. She was surrounded by a number of colourful shopping bags. She had also bought an expensive remote-control car and was pushing it toward Kenny."Look how fast it goes, Kenny!" Olivia said. "If you like it, we can go to the store tomorrow and buy the matching racetrack. What do you think Kenny?”Kenny was sitting quietly on the rug with his legs crossed. He looked at the shiny plastic toy, then up at her. However, he didn’t look excited, he just nodded politely with a small smile."Thank you, Aunt Olivia," Kenny said quietly as he held the toy car.Olivia furrowed her brows but she immediately ignored it.She shifted closer to him, reaching out to ruffle his hair.I noticed Kenny flinch away from her touch, leaning his small body back toward the sofa.He wasn’t like this towards Olivia before but even so, he was still being polite, just like Tyla had always taught him to be

~TYLA~Vincent and the team had gone downstairs to get some coffee, leaving me alone in my private room at the company. But I couldn't focus on anything because every time I looked at my computer screen, my heart felt heavy. The company had never encountered an issue like this before, and somehow my return seemed to have triggered it.At least, that was what everyone on the board believed. They didn't stop to think rationally or consider everything I had contributed since joining the company. All they cared about was the company's success and whoever could deliver it.When I first came here, they had trusted me and given me the chance to prove myself. Now, that trust had crumbled so easily, and they expected me to prove myself all over again. The pressure from yesterday and today had been too much for me to bear alone without breaking down. So, I had already texted Cassian to let him know I wouldn't be available today because I needed all the time I could get to rewrite the missing co

~MATT~I drove like a madman. My hands were gripping the steering wheel so hard my knuckles turned white.Corporate espionage. The word kept ringing in my ears like a death sentence.Olivia had planted that stolen Wilson Group drive right inside Tyla's private desk. When my car finally swerved into the parking lot of the Aegis Tech building, I threw my door open and ran inside. The lobby was quiet, but I could feel the tension in the air.I rushed to the main desk. When I asked to see Tyla, the receptionist said she wasn’t around.I clenched my jaw.I asked to see Vincent instead, but the secretary told me he wasn’t available either.Desperate, I pushed past the barrier and met his primary assistant in the hallway."Where is she?" I demanded, catching my breath. "Where did the police take Tyla Avery?"He looked completely uninterested in my panic, but he responded flatly. “They didn't take her, sir. Mr. Cassian Virell came into the office. He blocked the arrest on the spot and he took

~Tyla~My head was spinning so badly I could barely stand. The moment I stepped into the living room, everything felt heavy.I couldn't stop thinking about what Matt had just told me.“Come back for the sake of our son. He is always crying for you.”His words kept looping in my mind.I knew Matt was just trying to mess with my head.I didn't regret leaving that miserable marriage, and I absolutely hated him now.But picturing my five-year-old boy starving and crying because I wasn't there broke my heart. The guilt was so bad I could barely breathe. He had also warned me to stay away from Cassian. He called him a murderer."Tyla?"A tiny voice made me look down. Elowen was standing right next to me, tugging on my clothes."Don't listen to that loud man," she said, her voice was shaking. She looked scared that I was hurt."Elowen, I thought you were asleep," I said softly, touching her head.Suddenly, a sharp headache hit me.I held my forehead, trying to steady myself."I woke up a lit

~Tyla~The next morning, my fever was completely gone.I opened my eyes and realised the bed was empty. Cassian and Elowen had already gotten up.The bedroom was quiet.I stood up and headed to the bathroom to wash my face.I was still wearing my clothes from yesterday, which looked wrinkled and messy.I walked down the long hallway and took the stairs to the main floor. Before I could reach the dining room, I heard voices coming from the living area. One voice was Cassian’s rumble. The other was a high-pitched woman's voice."Cassian, you can't be serious," the woman said, her voice sounding irritated. "You didn't answer my calls all night. I was worried sick.""I was busy, Linda," Cassian replied. His voice was completely cold and distant."Busy with what? Or should I say, with whom?" she snapped.I paused at the bottom of the stairs.I didn't want to intrude on a private conversation, but to get to the other door, I had to walk right past them.I took a deep breath and stepped into
