*Alana*I leave the boardroom with my whole body feeling like it is on fire, and my heart beating even faster. As I walk out of the office, I feel the stares from his employees.Tara comes to meet me, and the look on my face makes her grimace. "That bad, huh?""That bastard literally insinuated that I slept my way to get to where I am," I spit out, trying not to lose my shit in front of everyone.Tara's eyes widen. "Let's leave this place."As we are about to enter the elevator, I hear someone call out my name. At first, I want to ignore it until I hear the call again. I turn, and I see Veronica coming towards me. "Alana. I thought my eyes were playing with me for a second. I can’t believe it is really you,” she says.“In the flesh,” I reply, hating that I am still here and I have to make small talk when all I really want is to leave this office.“What are you doing here?” she asks. I look at her dead in the eye, and I know she knows why I am here. There is a reason we used to call he

*Alana* Weary.Today is the day I have a better understanding of what it means.Never have I seen a man as frustrating as Zion. The worst part is, Chase looks like he wants to talk to just me, but Zion coming toward us meant he had to pretend like he loves the interruption. After all, it's Zion Foster.THE nepo baby.I would kiss his ass too, if I didn't plan on using it to scrub the entire floors."You both are still here," Zion says, feigning shock. It takes the self-control of a thousand people to stop me from rolling my eyes."We are," Chase replies with an easy going smile.Zion's expression turns serious. "I know you both are having your date, and I'm sorry to interrupt, but I just needed to ask something.""Ask away," Chase says, and I almost strangle him for his enthusiasm.“Have you heard about A & T corp?” That makes me freeze and narrow my eyes at him.Chase looks deep in thought. "No, I can't say I have.""Well, you should," Zion says, with a smile, and I have the urge to

*Alana* The next day comes faster than usual.Tara and I leave early only to see the meeting seems to be rounding up.“Oh if it isn’t our new unruly shareholders,” Rani Foster says.I am not shocked to see she is feeling better. I am sure she was breaking out in hives, when she had to stay away from the company.I immediately narrow my eyes at her, and I turn to look at Zion. “Wasn’t the meeting supposed to start by 12pm?” I can’t help but ask.“And you are here by 11a.m.?” Zion asks with a smirk on his face.“Punctuality is something we take seriously.”“Is it?”I cool my features to make sure I don’t give away just how angry I am. “Anyway, since you are here, we were just talking about you,” Zion says, which makes me freeze slightly, and he notices.“And why is that?”“We want to know how we can trust a shareholder who was once an employee of this industry,” Rani Foster says which makes my blood run cold. “And was also feeding information to our rivals.”Tara immediately holds my ha

*Zion* When Alana texted me to warn my mother, I immediately know my mother overtstepped, but knowing my mother, she wouldn’t see it as such.We both know my mother, which means she also knows this will not be the last time she will see my mother.I look at her, and I see she is in shorts and a crop top. I pause and swallow.Alana has always been beautiful, and seeing her this way makes me regret coming to see her without a heads up.“Hello,” she says, waving her hand. “Who let you up?”I nod, shaking my head slightly. She looks at me with a confused expression on her face. She follows my line of sight and looks at what she is wearing. Her eyes widen slightly, but she makes no effort to move to cover up. “I asked you a question Foster.” She folds her arms which make her breasts go up and my eyes move to it instantly. “And my eyes are up here.”That is enough to make me look at her face and she has a frown on her face.“What did you ask me?” I ask clearing my throat. She shakes her he

*Alana* I walk back to the office feeling annoyed at myself.Tara raises an eyebrow at me and says, “I told you not to go to his office, didn’t I?”I sigh. “I know, but-”“He infuriates you," she completes.I purse my lips."You should’ve known from the onset that he would only aggravate you,” Tara admonishes."Yes but-"“You were his assistant and his girlfriend, so of course, he would be able to get to you, but you shouldn’t give him that ”“I know, and it won’t happen again,” I reply meekly, but the look on Tara’s face doesn’t look like she believes me. “Plus, he wasn’t my boyfriend.”She rolls her eyes. “You had me fooled when I was looking for you in your room every single day, babe.”“It wasn’t every day,” I mutter. She doesn’t reply. Instead, she picks up her phone and screams.“What?!”I stand up confused.“We got the invite,” she says.I frown. “What invite?”“You know that one where the elites are invited to.”When she sees the confusion in my eyes, she shakes her head. “Oh
