Kael's POVI woke up the next morning with one goal. Forget yesterday, forget what I had said, forget the way my heart had raced when Akira smiled at me. Most importantly, forget the fact that I'd admitted I was falling for her.It had been a stupid thought, a temporary feeling and nothing more. At least, that's what I told myself. I grabbed my phone from the bedside table. There was a message from Akira.Good morning, sleepyhead don't tell me you're still sleeping. I stared at it. A smile crept onto my face. I immediately frowned.“No.”I typed a reply. Morning. I'm awake.Three dots appeared almost instantly.Good. I was about to call you I smiled again. I hated how easily she could do that. I locked my phone. Today, I wouldn't encourage it, today, I would keep my distance. That was the plan. Unfortunately, I was terrible at following my own plans.>>>>>>>>When I arrived at school, I saw her before she saw me. She was standing beside Camila near the entrance, laughing about someth

Akira's POVI thought saying no would make things easier. It didn't..If anything, everything felt more complicated. The next morning, I stood in front of my mirror longer than usual, staring at my reflection. I looked tired, my eyes were slightly swollen from crying the night before. I sighed and picked up my brush. “Get yourself together, Akira.” I had done nothing wrong.Kael had asked me a question, I had answered honestly. So why did I feel guilty? Maybe because I knew how much courage it must have taken for him to finally say those words, Mlmaybe because a part of me had once wished to hear them. But that part of me had been hurt too many times.I couldn't just erase everything because Kael had finally realized how he felt. Love wasn't supposed to work that way. You couldn't hurt someone repeatedly and expect one confession to repair everything.I grabbed my bag, I was going to school. And I was going to act normal. At least, I would try.********The moment I entered the classro

Akira's POVI didn't know when Justin had become part of my routine. It happened so quietly that I didn't even notice. A morning text, a joke before class, walking together after school, sharing lunch, helping each other with assignments. Somewhere between all of that, Justin had become someone I looked for without realizing it.And that scared me a little. Because after everything I'd been through with Kael, I had promised myself I wouldn't get emotionally attached to anyone so quickly again. But Justin was different. At least, that's what I believed. He never pressured me, never asked me to explain why I still looked sad sometimes, never made me feel guilty for needing space. He simply stayed. And maybe that was why I was beginning to trust him.“Akira!” I turned around. Justin jogged toward me, carrying two bottles of water. “You forgot this.” He handed one to me. I looked at it. “I didn't ask for water.” “You also didn't ask me to remind you about your assignment yesterday.” I la

Akira's POVI barely slept, Kael's message stayed on my screen long after I had stopped reading it. There's something I need to tell you. What could he possibly want to say?.Another confession?.An apology? Maybe he had changed his mind about giving me space. I didn't know. And honestly, I wasn't sure I wanted to know. But when morning came, I found myself looking for him. He was standing near the old tree behind the library. Waiting. The moment he saw me, he straightened.“Hey.” “Hey.” I stood a few feet away. “You said you wanted to talk.” “Yeah.” He looked nervous. I had never seen Kael like that before, he usually carried himself like nothing could shake him. But now his hands were tucked into his pockets, and he kept looking away.“I thought about what you said.” I swallowed.“Okay.” “You were right.” I frowned. “About what?” “Everything.” He looked at me. “I can't expect you to forget what happened.” I remained silent. “I can't expect you to suddenly trust me because I told you I

Akira's POVBeing someone's girlfriend sounded different when I actually became one. I woke up that morning with a strange smile on my face. Justin's girlfriend.I stared at the ceiling for a few seconds before burying my face in my pillow.“Oh my goodness.” I couldn't believe I had actually said yes. Everything had happened so quickly, just a few weeks ago, I couldn't imagine myself trusting anyone again. Now I had a boyfriend. Justin. My phone vibrated beside me, I reached for it. Justin: Good morning, girlfriend. I immediately smiled. Me: Good morning. His reply came almost instantly. Justin: That's all I get? I laughed.Me: What else do you want?Justin: I don't know. Maybe something cute? I rolled my eyes.Me: Good morning, Justin. Happy now?Justin: Very. I stared at the heart for a few seconds, then another message appeared.Justin: I'll see you at school.I smiled. Me: Okay.I placed my phone down, for the first time in a long time, I was excited to get to school.********
