In the comfort of Blythe’s small cabin, Laila found warmth by the fireplace, while Blythe tended to the flowers she had gathered. Afterward, she served Laila a strange-smelling tea. In any ordinary case, she would have been suspicious of it, but it wasn’t a normal case, and the woman who served her was the only person she decided to trust, so whatever the outcome, it was on her.Blythe sat with Laila and had some tea herself, thwarting the suspicion of poison. The drink had a somewhat tingly aftertaste, but it was easy on her taste buds and went down easily. Laila was grateful to at least have someone generous enough to not only share her food but her home as well. When she looked at it, Blythe was in a somewhat similar situation as hers; Laila was a stranger to her as well, and aiding a person whom she had only just met not only took a big heart but a fair amount of trust as well.With the two settled down, Laila anxiously awaited the talk Blythe spoke abo

At Blythe’s cabin, Laila was at a loss; she didn't know what to do. At the point she reached, the only option was to mate with Lucius properly, but after their encounter that night, she could not trust that she wouldn't fall for him. Trying to convince herself that what she felt was just physical attraction did not erase the truth of the matter, and the truth was, she couldn’t stop thinking about him; whether they were pleasant thoughts or thoughts of him dying, he was still on her mind.Instead of focusing on her true feelings, as Blythe advised her to, Laila decided to engage in the study of plants. The more Blythe used them, the more interested she was in learning how they work, and thankfully enough, she was kind enough to teach her about all the different kinds of plants and how they could be used for the benefit of others. Blythe’s teachings were not only informative but calming as well; they helped ease the stress Laila had been holding for years.It was all going well until Bl

Outside, in the open field, away from the pack and Blythe’s cabin, Laila wandered around in circles, talking aloud. As she moved forward and back, then side to side, her head spun, but it wasn’t because of her movements; it was because of her messed-up emotions.Laila did not want to care about anything that Lucius said; she repeated it to herself countless times, but her chest tightened each time she remembered what she had just been told. She was irritated that she cared; she was irritated that she could become so hurt by him, but most of all she was irritated that Lucius even had the guts to utter those words to her.What Laila understood was that Lucius did not regret what he did to her and could have done it to someone else if given the chance; it was what he said, so she wasn’t in the wrong to conclude it. The nerve he had to say he could have chosen better was the part of the statement that cemented itself in Laila’s mind; it wasn’t only a regret that he turned her into a wolf;

In Blythe’s cabin, Laila lay unconscious in bed, with only a blanket covering her body. She had been cleaned of all dirt and blood, and the bruises she sustained from her fall were all treated, but she was still in a deep sleep; all had been taken care of except the problem in her mind, which she had to heal by herself.Blythe watched over Laila like an owl. In all her life, she only worried about the ones with whom she had built a deep and genuine connection; those people were Lou and Lucius. But ever since she met her, Blythe had been drawn to Laila and her spirit; there was something special about her, but the moon was yet to reveal it to her. In the meantime, she had to protect Laila the way she would her own life, but seeing as she ended up in such a situation, she did not do very well, and for that, she felt much guilt.Laila’s situation was intriguing to Blythe for so many reasons; a girl just coming out of nowhere and revealing that the alpha of the

The silence in the room was deafening as no one spoke a word; each of them had conflicting thoughts, but it all contributed to the awkward energy. Blythe and Lucius had been looking at each other for a little over five minutes, while Laila stared at both of them, hoping to understand anything through their conversation, but they were not speaking. Whatever Blythe had said rubbed Lucius the wrong way; he looked rather disturbed and worried.“Explain to me in detail,” he finally said.Blythe began, “It would appear that the wolves we sent for treatment got worse instead of better; whatever was wrong with them multiplied and manifested into something deadly”“How deadly?”“Murderously deadly, according to what I was told, they morphed into some kind of dead and alive breed; then went on a rampage and attacked the sane wolves at the river”“Are they okay?” Laila interrupted.“They sustained quite a few injuries, but none were killed, thankfully”“And what do the river wolves have to say a
