The system is designed to be frictionless. Borrowing 'I Am Legend' is as easy as streaming a song on Spotify, but free. The library pays the licensing fee so you don't have to. My only advice beyond the technical steps is to lean into the serendipity. While you're in the app looking for that title, browse the 'Recommended for You' or 'Similar Titles' sections. You might find 'The Martian' or 'Bird Box' or other isolation horror/sci-fi that scratches the same itch. The discovery tools in Libby are surprisingly good. It's how I found 'Station Eleven' after listening to 'I Am Legend,' and it was a perfect follow-up.

Think of Libby as a free, legal streaming service for books, funded by your taxes. You're entitled to use it! The search function works well. Just type the full title. Be aware there might be multiple editions or audiobook versions from different publishers. Any of them will give you the story. Sometimes one version has a wait and another doesn't. Click on the title to see details like narrator and runtime. Robertson Dean's narration is the one you want, in my opinion. It's about 5 hours and 15 minutes long. Perfect for a couple of days of commuting or a long afternoon of housework.

I tried Libby for the first time last month, and it's a game-changer. It feels like stealing, but it's totally legal. I searched for 'I Am Legend' just to test it, and my mid-sized town had it. I put it on hold, got notified three days later, and devoured it in a week. The app is slick. You can even send some audiobooks to a Kindle for WhisperSync if you own the ebook, but that's more of a purchased-title feature. For pure library borrowing, you'll listen within the Libby or Hoopla app itself. It's so convenient for walks or chores.

Absolutely you can. I'm listening to it as we speak, borrowed from my library via the Libby app. The narrator's voice is perfect—weary, intelligent, and slowly unraveling. The technical side is a breeze. The app remembers your position across devices. I start listening on my phone during a walk, then pick up on my iPad at home, and it's synced to the exact second. It's a level of convenience that rivals any paid service. If you haven't set it up yet, block out ten minutes tonight to get your card linked. You won't regret it. It opens up a whole world of stories.

Picture this: you're doing dishes, or mowing the lawn, or staring out a train window. Having a story like 'I Am Legend' playing in your ears transforms the mundane. Library apps make that possible without a subscription burden. The practical steps are trivial compared to the benefit. Get your card. Get the app. Search. It's a five-minute investment for hours of entertainment. I've converted several friends who were Audible-only, and they're all shocked by the quality and breadth of what's available for free. It feels like discovering a secret door in your own house.

She also looked for the dog that had saved her life once before.
She sharpened her knives, stacked her supplies, and took care of unfinished business. She paid back every debt, whether owed in blood or in kindness.
And then, disaster struck.

In October 2025, an explosion occurs at a remote lab. An unidentified substance is leaked, and the virus makes people go insane. Anyone who is bitten by these rabid creatures becomes one of them.
It's like the zombies people see in movies and video games.
On the first day of the explosion, my five-year-old, Joyce Fairfield, is still at kindergarten. I risk my life to hurry there, but I can't even find her corpse when I arrive. I can only look at the surveillance footage to see her face, which is ashen with fear. I also see her mouth, "Mommy!"
15 days after the explosion, I finally traverse the city and get to my mother's home. However, all that welcomes me is a destroyed apartment and blood everywhere.
20 days after the explosion, my husband, Emmett Fairfield, calls me one last time from his office, which zombies have surrounded. He tells me not to leave the house.
Less than a month after the apocalypse arrives, I lose all my family. I'm alone as I struggle to survive in this dead world.
The spread of the virus triggers chaos in mankind. I exchange all my supplies to save a neighboring couple from bandits, leading them to safety in a secure zone where they can live stable lives. However, my kindness is not repaid.
Three years after the explosion, the secure zone is under siege by a wave of zombies. As we retreat, my neighbors shove me underneath a car so I'll distract the zombies. Then, they make a run for it and get away.
Trusted neighbors betray me. As the zombies eat away at me, I can feel death looming. All I want is to see my family again.

*****
This is BL's (Boys Love) story. This story contains some explicit sexual scenes between the two main male characters, so if you are not into BL stories, This is not for you.
Ryan is the Zombie King, the man who helped the zombies take over the human world. Now, he's on the hunt for the one human he can't forget. Lacey is on the run for her life from zombies trying to forget Ryan. She didn't know he was a zombie, and she can't help being conflicted over how she feels about him.
Zombies aren’t the mindless creatures that humans thought of in their stories. They are intelligent and function like humans do, minus the human brains they need for food. Turns out that zombies come from a mutated gene that only activates after death. They have been around just as long as humans and now they rule the world.
When Ryan finally finds Lacey and brings her to his kingdom their worlds collide once again and so do their feelings. Can Lacey forgive Ryan for abandoning her after using her? Can their love survive in the new world?
Searching for this just reminded me how fragmented the audiobook market still is compared to music or video. Anyway, Audible is the primary distributor for the version you've probably heard about. Scribd might be another option to check; it's a subscription service that offers a mix of ebooks and audiobooks, though their catalog rotates. I haven't seen 'I Am Legend' on there recently, but their library changes. It's less reliable than Audible for a specific title, but if you're a subscriber already, a quick search costs nothing. Sometimes you get lucky.
'I Am Legend' is one of my all-time favorites. Yes, it is absolutely available as an audiobook! I listened to it last year, and it was an incredible experience. The narrator did a fantastic job capturing the eerie, isolating atmosphere of the story. The audiobook version really brings Neville's struggle to life, making the loneliness and tension feel even more palpable. If you're into post-apocalyptic stories, this is a must-listen. It's available on platforms like Audible, and I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys immersive horror or sci-fi.
I also found that listening to it at night added an extra layer of creepiness, which made the experience even better. The pacing is perfect, and the voice acting really enhances the emotional weight of the story.
