Mother’s message was particularly relevant today, as my age now permitted me entry. Her second message was not to take unnecessary risks on the ice peaks I planned to climb, a message she knew I always ignored. The third was one I had received continually since my early childhood: “Skye, do not, under any circumstances, exercise your powers and bring attention to yourself.” I had asked why many times, only to receive the same answer. “Because I forbid it.” Or, as I grew older, “Because we have a special ability that can be dangerous and must be concealed.”

I clenched my fists, my wolf stirring inside me. I turned back to Skye, "It seems we have to postpone our conversation, there's something that requires my immediate attention." Her gaze flickered with concern as she looked at me, "What's happening?" I shrugged, "Trouble, most likely." I didn't want to tell her it was Jayleen. Not yet, not until I was sure of her loyalty. She nodded, her brows furrowed. As I turned to leave, I felt a strange sensation. I looked back to see Skye staring at the painting. She was more than her mother's daughter; she was a witch and she had powers. Powers that could help us.

✨Chapter 16✨ Andrian's POV When I got to my friends place, he was almost close to getting Skylar's location so I just sat quietly and waited for him to finish. "I've gotten it" he announced making me spring to my feet "So where's the location?" He explained to me that it was a mansion in a forest not far from here. Why would Skylar go to such dangerous place? Did something happen to her? Of course not! How will something happen to a girl that is up to ten guys? Imagine the way she flipped me over, I don't know when I will ever get that scene out of my head.

Skylar's POV I was skeptical about what to do at the winery party's opening, surrounded by the state's wealthiest people. I couldn't believe I'd been allowed at such an event, but as the manager of Zane Hills, who sat beside me, it was my job. I was growing tired of the role, and I'd been planning to leave soon, especially since it made focusing on my relationship nearly impossible. Today was my anniversary, yet here I was, spending it with my boss instead.

Chapter 30 As Skylar drove back on to the main roads, Cheyenne was ranting in the passenger seat. “. . .Why wouldn’t you let me say goodbye? Why’d you give her the impression we were coming back? She stared at the message that had just arrived: “Tyler is Adrian’s first son, ask him about it.” Her fingers trembled as she typed back. “Who are you, and how do you know all of this?” A moment passed before another message lit up the screen. “I am a friend. I’m just looking out for you and Lia. Believe me, I have your best interest at heart.” “Then why do it from the shadows? Why won’t you say who you are?” Stacey typed, her anxiety growing. “Me telling you all of this is already risking enough.” Stacey exhaled shakily.

"If you punish him, you punish me... If Delta Alexander failed today, then so did I..." Skyler whimpers as she steps back from everyone, she then surprises all of us as she snaps, "No!... Not again!... Never again!" She then runs out of the cabin and into the woods. I was a little surprised that she didn't shift. The emotions coming off of her were intense, but then I remembered that she is carrying pups and is too far long to shift safely. Elijah and Nathan look at Cole, then at me and then out the door that Skyler had run out of with puzzlement. I break the silence as I say,

I stole a glance at Kileys ass as she climbed into her seat and Aria had crossed her arms in dismay. "As for you Aria, I get why you're upset but being a bitch isn't going to solve a thing. I really like Skylar and if I hadn't fucked things up the first time, all of the shit that happened between the two of you, would've probably never happened. Now if you can't be happy for us, or at least be civil about it, you can fuck off. I'm done hiding who I am and who I like." Kiley growled out, her voice low and menacing Aria stared back at her wide eyed and uncrossed her arms "Alright, Jesus I get it."
