Amy's POV Sleep was like an enemy that avoided me for most of the night. I think I managed to get about two hours, and within those two hours, I was run over by nightmares of what could have occurred. Madam Loretta had my phone, so I wasn't able to reach out to Antonio. I don't know if he even wanted me to reach out to him when he was out like this. My mind was racing, but after what she told me last night, I was rethinking just how involved I wanted to be in all this if I should just keep to my lane and not step out from the boundaries that had been placed in front of me. Maybe that would be easier, and maybe I could hold on to my neck longer instead of losing it foolishly.

For one brief moment, everything felt worth it. Then every light inside the room flickered. The moment shattered. Daniel's expression hardened instantly. The child moved again. This time violently. Amara grabbed the edge of the table. Pain flashed across her face. Daniel caught her. "Amara." Her eyes widened. She wasn't looking at him. She was looking somewhere else. Somewhere far away. The connection had returned. Stronger than before. Millions of fragmented thoughts brushed against her mind. Fear. Confusion. Panic.

Amma chipped in. “Ohhhh… I didn't realize it's such a piece of cake!” I can't believe she's making it seem so easy. I've avoided the clinic for days. It's been hard controlling how this thing works. I just keep hearing thoughts that don't interest me. Now, I know how dirty-minded people are. You smile widely at someone and your thoughts are strangling them? What a pity. That is what Amma calls a gift. “Are you sure she'll show up?” For the first time today, Amma is showing a valid concern by asking this question.

I wasn't getting the answers I needed, and it was messing with my head. Going back inside to get the car keys will be a suicide attempt. I was lucky enough to survive the first attack. I am most likely not going to survive the second one. I looked at my phone, and it's 2:20 AM. Finding a cab home at this late hour is highly impossible. I'm stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea. This is so far the most decisive moment of my life. “Think, Susan. Think. Why are you so dumb?” I spanked my forehead just to get some solutions.

The mere thought sent her heart racing, and she found it nearly impossible to contain her curiosity. Questions swirled in Amber’s mind. For over an hour, she grappled with these thoughts, her mind thinking of different possibilities. Sleep eventually consumed her at the end. Forcing myself to focus, I hammered out a few urgent emails and checked reports Finally, with a decisive click, I shut down the laptop, plunging the room into a welcome darkness. Chapter 5 Jasmine walked out of the elevator, hearing all kinds of voices in her mind. She was having an incredibly hard time focusing to block everyone out. Even she heard Amelia’s thoughts as she chanted over and over in her mind that she wouldn’t be a coward that she wasn’t afraid.
