Erica kept talking, but my mind was just drifting all over the place except the present. Her words blurred into noise—as if someone’s flipping book pages too fast to catch “... oh right, by the way,” Erica casually dropped the bomb, snapping me back, “the CEO’s visiting this department later.”

~Zella~ We had an early lunch and then started our trip to the capital. The journey was a little bit bumpy and rough, but the beautiful colorful scenery makes up for the uncomfortable ride. We are traveling on a shortcut road that will take us to the capital in approximately 2 or 3 days depending on the weather, which would normally take one week on the old road. On day one of our journey, we passed different places such as towns and villages. And then we stopped at this progressive-looking town called El Diablo packed with low-rise buildings and establishments.

Victor's POV --- The road stretches before us like a wound. We've been traveling for three days, moving through territory I haven't seen since I was a boy. The landscape is harsh and unforgiving—rocky outcroppings, dense forests, abandoned villages that speak of lives long since scattered. This is the edge of pack lands, the place where civilization gives way to wilderness. And somewhere ahead, Selene is waiting.

I throw my black backpack over my shoulder and make my way down the elevator and make sure I never look behind me at apartment 307. … I exit the elevator in a hurry as soon as it opens up to the ground level. I pull my car keys out of the side pocket of my backpack hanging off my shoulder. It’s sunny out today with a warm breeze. Normally, I love a day like this but the sun is hitting me right in the eyes blinding me. I cover my eyes for protection before my headache gets any worse.

, he whispers just as quietly. I shake my head before saying, “but I’ve been there with Amory at six in the morning. I’m more then sure they never lock the doors anyway”! “Whatever, Jay”, Bo says disapprovingly. “Let’s get the fuck out of here already”! The ride upstate goes by in a flash. Considering it’s almost two in the morning, there isn’t a soul on the road but us once we past the city limits! It’s almost day break by the time we find the damn unit in question, after driving through rows and rows of storage units. Under the semi-darkness, Bo and I clip the padlock on the storage unit and roll up the garage like door.

"By then, my dear sister will finally understand that without your noble protection, she is nothing but dirt beneath your feet." Hearing this, Damien felt a strange wave of irritation. He forced himself to halt, but no one noticed that his tightly clenched fists were trembling from extreme restraint. Sharp nails dug deep into his hard palm. Crimson drops of Noble blood dripped from between his pale fingers, hitting the cold floor. I dragged my heavy suitcase and found a dilapidated motel on the edge of the city center. The air was thick with the acrid smell of bleach and cheap tobacco. The wallpaper was peeling, and the carpet was covered in stains.

They grabbed my bags and loaded them in the Tahoe. I took the cigarettes out of my purse and threw them in the trash. Then I walked around the motel room to make sure we didn't leave anything behind. While Brodie and Deck had a deep discussion by the car. When Deck folded himself into my car I came out and waved bye then climbed in the Tahoe. I had no idea where we were going because Brodie had not mentioned anything besides saying check out was eleven-thirty and we needed to be out by then.

Zachary had picked up the road atlas earlier. She studied the route he'd marked in red pen, and from Everton to New Andar, it was broken into two major segments with three stops total. First, from Everton to Cozam, then Highway 317 from Cozam straight to New Andar. It was nearly 3,000 miles altogether. She did some quick math, and it would take seven days if they really pushed it. Setting down the road atlas, Marisol turned to watch the spring scenery flying past the window. Her heart suddenly felt hollow.
