Eleanor Berkshire-Beaumont looked up at the voice and saw a nurse standing at the foot of her hospital bed. “Your discharge has been processed. Please collect your medication at the reception desk and pay your bills at the billing counter.” The nurse left, and Eleanor sat there on the bed, looking out the window. It was the fourteenth day since her car accident. The fourteenth day of being alone in a hospital room. The fourteenth day of realizing that no one was ever going to give a damn about her. She could understand why her family wouldn’t come to see her, but the fact that Nicholas hadn’t even visited her once in 14 days…

She says, faking a giggle behind her hand. Mr Cullen doesn't respond to that but simply stares down at her. Damn, this man is cold. If I were Brooke, I would have continued my way by now, but because she is Brooke, she won't think like me. " So when are you due?" I ask, deciding to step in before she receives more of Mr Cullen's coldness. " In two months time. Anyway, Reece, how do you know Skylar, I mean it's such a rare thing to see that someone like you, would be -"

Certain. “I think we’ve waited long enough.” A chill crept through my chest. “What do you mean?” He stepped closer. Then reached for my hand, lifting it gently so the ring caught the light. “I’ve moved the date forward.” My stomach dropped. “How far?” Adrian’s eyes locked with mine. “One week.” The room went silent. Shock rippled through me. One week. Not months. Not even weeks. Seven days. Adrian’s smile sharpened. “And I expect everyone here to help make it perfect.”

Eighty-four. Eighty-four days until the accord ended. Eighty-four days to decide if it continued. Keth found her there an hour later. “You look like you’re doing math,” Keth said. Luna nodded. “Eighty-four days.” Keth followed her gaze to the camp. “Feels longer.” Luna nodded again. “It is.” They stood in silence for a while. Then Keth said, “Council sent the extension proposal this morning.” Luna looked at him. “Terms?”

She sat at the table and watched it heat the pozole with Dante's domestic ease, and she smiled when it looked at her, and she thought — You have four days. Four days and then I end this. I am coming, Dante. Hold on.

I plugged in my phone and checked the countdown. 79 DAYS LEFT Seventy-nine was still a lot. Plenty of time for karaoke, swimming holes, bad movies, and whatever else I could talk Jay into. Tomorrow was karaoke. I couldn't wait.
