I read it. It took approximately twelve seconds to read, which was the amount of time it took to register the two categories and the two time windows and the brief, clean sentence at the bottom that said please observe scheduled hours to support the household's morning routines. The document was brief. It said what it needed to say in the compact, unornamented language of someone who had thought carefully about what words to include and had included only those. His hours: seven to eight. Mine: nine to ten.

“With what time exactly? You’ve got an hour and thirty minutes until nine, Dot.” Work. Shit. I’d completely forgotten.

He just laughed softly because it was awkward to make noise inside the van that only the radio was breaking the silence. It's getting dark outside. I checked the time on my phone and it’s already 6:50 pm. “You slept for almost four hours,” Auden said. "My biceps did a really nice job, huh?" he bragged. He tapped my biceps which I probably made into a pillow for about four hours. I rolled my eyes, jokingly. “Four hours? Is there traffic? ” I asked, unable to believe that the trip took four hours which I knew was only supposed to be two hours.

Through the frosted glass, I caught glimpses of her wiping her face. I knew she was waiting for me to go after her, but I wouldn’t. Not anymore. I had finally learned to stop looking back. I booked the earliest flight I could find. By five in the morning, I was already at the airport. Standing at the check-in counter with my suitcase, I nodded along as the attendant went over the luggage policy. Everything felt like a dream. We shared seven years together, and in the end, all I had left was a twenty-eight-inch suitcase.

Third Person's POV Grayson had just finished cleaning his body, but the hot water felt too good to step out just yet. He lays his head back and lets the hot water beat down against his chest as he goes over the events from 17 hours ago. It was a long drive. Even without stopping to sit down and eat, only grabbing fast food to eat in the car once at lunchtime, and refueling when needed, it still took 12 and 1/2 hours to get there and 12 and 1/2 hours back.
