I swivel my head in the foggy direction of the noise, squinting into the darkness with a pounding heart. “Everyone stay quiet,” Axel whisper-shouts. I felt her body arch and smirked into her skin. She pulled me back up by my hair and brought my lips back to hers. She bit my bottom lip, and I moaned. My wolf hummed at the feeling of a successful hunt.

The rabbit looked around for a moment with quick movements before it began washing its fluffy ears with its paws. I drew in a deep breath and pulled the string back, aiming the tip of the arrow at the rabbit’s small body. Beside me, Callum remained silent, just watching. “Sorry, little guy,” I whispered. I loosed the arrow. And missed. The rabbit squeaked, bolting back into the hole as the arrow slammed into the tree behind it. The reverberation echoed through the quiet woods, and I cursed, lowering my bow.

Jogging toward Lon and Almora in an effort to intercept the attack. Low snarls made Lon reluctant to look. When finally he did, he found a Dog of Battling had lunged on the animal they’d just killed. Greedily tearing the dead rabbit apart. Flinging bits of hair and droplets of blood over its shoulder. Summoning others to rip at the creature with him. Pulling in different directions. Hooking their teeth and planting their front claws to roughly jerk at it. “I thought they only ate De-Del-me?” Lon finished unable to fully recall the appropriate word.

Valentino exhaled heavily and he gave a walk to the rabbit to get closer him. The crows were cawing. The rabbit began to shake and it was difficult to breathe. It trembled and fell down to the ground. It twitched three times before it left resting on the ground motionless. Valentino turned his head to Benedict, the rabbit. “You are free now my friend…” he released the rabbit’s front leg as it was flying lightly with the breezes. The wolf approached the dead body of the rabbit, his eyes stared at Valentino. Valentino nodded and then, within some seconds of time, Valentino could watch and let the teeth of the wolf ripping out of the dead rabbit.
