I followed my ruined corpse all the way to the mass grave. My limbs were twisted at unnatural angles, my body covered in crisscrossing bruises, my face drained of every drop of color—like a weed that had been stomped flat by a hundred boots. Soon, a pack of mangy stray dogs caught the scent of fresh meat. Their eyes glowed hungry and green in the darkness as they circled in. At first, they just tugged at the edges of my clothes. Then one bolder mutt sank its teeth into my calf and ripped off a chunk of flesh.

Then a thick black book with a seal on the side appeared in Leon’s right hand. “You need a book on how to summon the demons, right?” He threw the thick book at Abelard. Abelard let the book landing on the floor. He didn’t want to risk himself by catching a book that emanating a cursed aura. The book that gave off a bad feeling didn’t catch Abelard. “What... do you want in return?” Abelard subconsciously used a polite word towards Leon. Leon smiled broadly, or rather smirked because Abelard agreed to his offer with ease, not as stubborn as Felen.

His midnight fur was scorched, and blood seeped from a dozen wounds, but his golden eyes were fixed on me with a look that was half-worship, half-terror. I stood up in the center of the crater my impact had created. The air around me was humming, the heat so intense that the stone floor was turning to glass beneath my boots. The silver light was no longer flickering; it was solid, cascading off me in waves like liquid mercury. "The Abomination," the High Inquisitor whispered. The arrogant sneer had vanished from his face, replaced by a cold, calculating fear. He didn't look like a god anymore; he looked like a man who had underestimated the universe.

"They're using magic. These aren't plague victims anymore. They're. they're changing into something else." "Abominations," breathed another. "Corrupted with blood magic. This is unnatural. Someone is making them do this. In the darkness under the siege towers, one of the beasts emitted a howl — and others did the same. A tide of rot rolled towards the walls. And looming above them all, on the charred cliffs outside the siege line, something greater stirred. A form. Broader. Formless. Exhaling. Its form was sewn together from corpses, topped with deformed antlers. Eyes of molten metal blazed through the mist.
