Kylie made her seat close to him, a seat that he always reserved for me but I shrugged it off and took the seat next to Mauris who already had his eyes on Yara. "So this is the long awaited woman, we've all been searching for." Alpha Theon said, looking her over. One might think he was just regarding her since she would soon be the Luna of the pack out of a sense of duty but I knew that look, he looked at her like a predator would look at its prey. "She is indeed very beautiful." He said nodding his head in approval, the council murmured their approvals.

"Darius?" He looked at her. His face was still familiar, but the warmth in his eyes had disappeared. Then his grip around her loosened. "You're pulling me," Luna said. He looked down at his arms as if surprised to find them around her. "Why?" Her stomach twisted. The Severance had taken the reason. Luna started to slide toward the pool. Kael caught her. "Darius!" Darius just stared at Luna. Nothing returned. Then Onyx shouted from beside him. "You chose her!" Darius turned. Onyx's face was strained with effort as he held Aurora. "You chose Luna before any bond told you to. You chose her when choosing her was inconvenient, dangerous, and occasionally incredibly stupid."

One half glowed with Kian’s fire, the other with the Luna’s light. Ayla stood between them, torn open by love and destiny. Kian shouted over the rising storm, “Ayla, choose me!” The Luna’s voice cut through his—soft but commanding. “Choose the world.” Ayla took a trembling breath, her eyes wet with moonlight. “Maybe I can choose both.” Then she leapt into the rift. I could tell with one hundred percent certainty none of these women were that way. "This is your one chance, Everly. To leave this pack with some dignity. Because once I am Luna, I won't allow you to stay here." My heart stops in my chest, but I do my best to keep my face smooth. "Killian is my true mate," she continues, "I made a mistake by choosing another over him when we first met, but now, I can see only I am worthy of standing by his side and running the second strongest pack in the nation." I can't help myself, a laugh slips out. She glares at me, and I can tell I've irritated her. Her face is so expressive, every emotion clear, especially to those of us who weren't charmed by her.

After everything that had happened, the pain had already burned itself out. Finally the guard lowered the phone slightly. “Alpha Ethan picked up,” he said. Then he hesitated before speaking again into the phone. “Alpha, Luna Bella is here at the gate,” he explained respectfully. “She says she wants to leave the pack territory. According to the rules we need your instruction before we allow—” He stopped suddenly. For a moment he just listened. Then his expression changed slightly. “Oh… I see,” he said. The call ended a second later. The guard slowly lowered the phone and looked at me.

Nicole’s blood hummed, hot and cold all at once. “I am not your queen,” she said, her voice clear, ringing against the hall’s stone. “I am your Luna. Chosen by your Alpha. Bound to this pack in blood and vow. That bond does not break because some of you are too cowardly to honor it.” A growl rose in the hall, low, unsettled. Another wolf, Alina, younger but bolder, stepped forward. “Your bond is with Silas. Not us. Without him, you are nothing here.”

"Alpha… Victoria and Leo are gone." Damien clenched his teeth. "Find them. She won’t get far." Michael nodded and left swiftly, his wolf bristling. Damien remained, sinking to his knees beside Analica as Ariana hovered near, pale but strong. Together, they watched as both Analica and Eve slipped closer to the veil. Analica’s lips curved in a faint, peaceful smile. "Thank you, my Alpha… my Luna. I will be free." Her eyes closed as her chest stilled.
