I asked, grabbing his shoulder and pulling him into a tight hug.
Romeo chuckled, patting me on the back. “Here and there, my friend. But I’m back now, aren’t I?”
I pulled back slightly and smirked. “You’re damn right you are.”
Without thinking, we fell into our old routine, the one we’d perfected as kids. We slapped our hands together, the first step of our signature handshake: a firm grip, fingers locked, followed by a quick snap of our thumbs.
We twisted our wrists, locking elbows, and then pulled each other in for a chest bump before finally finishing it off with a quick fist bump. It was a routine only the three of us knew, a testament to our brotherhood.
