For one dizzying second, the rest of the world disappeared,there was only the scent of pine and earth on his skin and the rapid thud of my own heart.
Then he noticed the stares.
Adrian’s hands dropped away. He took a deliberate step back, putting careful distance between us, his expression cooling into something neutral and alpha-like. Without another word, he turned and walked away.
I exhaled shakily.
On the far side of the building overlooking the field, a woman stood watching us.
Her elegant features were twisted with clear displeasure. She glared for a long moment before spinning on her heel and storming back inside the building, her movements sharp with anger.
