ASTRID. The room feels chilly all of a sudden. My eyes search around, my room looks tighter now, something panging at the base of my heart. Sweat trickled down my forehead as I opened the top of the box. I dump the contents on the table, there are a few notes, and some pictures, stickers, books and sorts, and I open the bulky book, my eyes swiping through the content. It’s a spell book, the words written in another language I can’t even read.

Adriana's POV ​“Just give it back, Draven! You made me forget what chapter I was on even!” I groaned, reaching up to grab it, but he simply extended his arms up further. Even in these goddamn heels, I was no match for his height. ​“I’ll give it back if you tell me where you’ve been the whole day.” His voice sounded rather amused, and I rolled my eyes. ​“Here? Reading. Why do you care, anyway?” I grumbled, trying to snatch it away and huffing in frustration at another failed attempt.

- He implored me. I let go of the tree and stumbled into his claw. He helped me up, onto his back and told me to hold on tightly as he began his slow ascent above the trees. This time I didn't even feel the heat of his body between my legs. All I felt was my stomach rocking and rolling with every movement the Draygon made. "Tohr," I groaned, hoping to God that he could hear me over the wind. Yes, Mara? He answered promptly back. "Tohr… I think I'm going to…"

“A book? Hmm.” Arabella didn't move her eyes from the book. “Richard called. He said it helps to take my mind off things.” Adrian settled on the edge of the bed, reaching for the book, “Were you even reading it?” “It’s upside down.” He turned up the book for her as he spoke. Arabella raised a brow, “Weird. I thought I could understand it.” Adrian let out a small laugh as he took the book from her and dropped it in the drawer, “Why don't we go for a walk around the compound?”

As he was laughing behind me, I smiled a sincere one. It was almost midnight and Ed was busy in his phone. We told Anna and the others about our flat tire. They offered to come and pick us but we refused and decided we'll meet tomorrow morning. I was reading a book that was on my side-table; "If I Stay" by Gayle Forman. It was a romantic story. I glanced at Ed every few minutes or so. A question struck my mind and I closed the book, with my index finger inside from the top on the page I was on. "You said you have dated girls' right?" I asked.

It is heavy. I look up at the grey sky through the canopy, letting my head fall back into the damp mud. The darkness creeps in from the edges of my vision, thick and cool and completely empty of pain. I do not fight it. I close my eyes and let myself sink directly into the black. Adriel POV

For now, that was enough. I was halfway through the second chapter of the book, though I couldn’t focus on the words. My headache throbbed relentlessly, and the heaviness in my body refused to ease up. Still, the story was my only escape, so I clung to it, hoping it would drown out the exhaustion and the bitter memories of last night. Just as I turned the page, a sharp sound jolted me—the door creaked open. My body stiffened as my eyes darted to the entrance. Adrien walked in, his presence consuming the room in an instant.

He was extremely grateful. Adrian also expressed his willingness to help. ...
