He stared at Florence lying a few steps away, motionless. His vision blurred. The pain and the blood loss dragged away what strength he had left. Just before his consciousness faded away completely, the last image that flashed before his eyes was from a time long ago. It was a rainy evening. A timid girl in a faded dress with eyes that shone so brightly was standing at the entrance of a narrow old apartment block.

They landed on the booklet the owner handed Flora earlier and flew away again. Flora did not move her sight away from the two visitors she had in her room until they left and grabbed that booklet. She sat up straight and closed her eyes. "God, please send e the right person to guide me in this place," she heartily prayed. She was hoping to have her break fun and totally stress-free. She needs to have a good companion to make it happen. Flora took a deep breath, and with her eyes closed, she opened the book. She slowly opened her eyes. "Damien Castle," Flora read beside the name column on the print.

The title was written in red block letters.

It was true that I came from a small mountain village. But if it weren't for me, Jeff would have died there. Back then, a gliding accident and the strong wind dropped him in the deep mountains. One of his legs was broken, and the situation was dire. It was I who found him, carried him home, and trekked miles for medicine.
