“Growing. Contributing. Not disappearing.” His brows twitched in amusement or confusion, I couldn’t tell. We finished quickly after that. He shook my hand mechanically and promised to “be in touch.” He never was. The email arrived instead, two days later. Polite. Hollow. Another bench. Another steady breath. By the time the third rejection rolled in, the emails were beginning to form a pattern. We appreciate your interest. Unfortunately… We wish you success… elsewhere. I read each one carefully, as if somewhere inside the wording, there might be clues.

He slumps against the wall, landing on his arse, out cold. I’ve never known any two mates react this badly to a rejection. Lilly seems to have slipped into a coma because of said rejection, and Bastian is doing the same thanks to Lilly refusing to accept. Usually, when a mate is rejected, they’re in pain for a few days, whether they accept or not. Once they realise all is not lost, and with the help of their friends and family, they move on. Of course, not all mates are lucky to survive the process, but some will even find their second chance mate, some will not.

I raised my hand and touched my neck. Thankfully, he had not marked me. Maybe it was time to take back that rejection. When you reject someone and they don’t accept the rejection, it grows weaker with time. It was clear that had happened to me. In that case, there was no point in the rejection, especially since I was still interested in him.

A week later. ~~~ “What? After two weeks of waiting, it was rejected?” I exclaim in disbelief, taking the letter from Mr. Moore's hand, disappointment washing over me. I had been so optimistic about receiving a positive response. I pull open the envelope, remove the letter, and stare at the rejection stamp. “Why was it rejected?” I ask no one in particular after reading through it. Am I a failure? There's no doubt. What else could explain everything that keeps happening since I assumed the alpha position?

She managed to get to the faucet nearby to wash her face, but even though she managed to wash her face and neck off, tears continued running down her tears. She reached her chest and realized that she was rejected in a very painful way. Silent rejection. She’s been waiting for this time to come in her whole life. But not to be treated like trash, but to meet her mate and be loved. However, is this bad karma? Or was she just being hated by the Goddess?
