Aizawa X Deku Novels & Stories

I'd check Archive of Our Own and use their filtering system. Sort by kudos or hits, then apply the Deku/Izuku Midoriya & Ochaco Uraraka relationship tag. The tag wrangling there is really thorough, so you'll find all the variations. I usually exclude crossovers unless I'm in the mood for them, because those can really skew the results.

Don't just rely on the front page though. Sometimes a fantastic slow-burn is buried because it's a WIP or it's older. I found one of my favorites by sorting by bookmarks instead of kudos; it had a smaller but really dedicated readership. The comments section on AO3 often gives you a better sense of quality than the stats alone.

Fanfiction.net is harder to navigate for this pairing specifically, but you can search within the 'My Hero Academia' category using the character filter. The quality can be more hit-or-miss there, but some absolute classics from years back are still floating around.

Getting recommendations from dedicated spaces is honestly the only reliable method I've found. The big general archives are fine for browsing, but if you're hunting for something specific that isn't the absolute most dominant ship, you'll drown in noise. I spend most of my time on specific Aizawa/Izuku tag pages on Ao3, obviously, but I also have a couple of Tumblr blogs bookmarked that are solely dedicated to posting links and recs for that pairing.

Sometimes those blogs will share snippets from smaller sites or even link to stories posted directly on forums. Discord servers are another huge one; a lot of authors post WIP chapters or even whole fics in server channels before they hit the archives. You have to get invited, but searching Twitter or Tumblr for 'Shinsou Hitoshi' or 'EraserMight' server links can sometimes get you in. It's less about a single website and more about finding the right curators.

The Deku x Aizawa dynamic runs on such a specific battery of tropes. A huge one is Dadzawa, obviously, but dialed up to eleven because Izuku’s own dad is absent. You get these fics where Shota slowly, reluctantly transitions from exasperated teacher to protective guardian, usually after finding Izuku injured or pushing himself too hard post-canon or in a villain attack. Another massive trope is Quirk Analysis, where Izuku’s notebooks become a shared language; Aizawa recognizes the strategic mind behind them and that becomes their intellectual bridge. Hurt/Comfort is practically mandatory—Izuku gets hurt, Aizawa is the one who finds him and patches him up, leading to soft moments that break his usual stoicism. Time Travel fix-its also pop up, where a future Izuku loops back and Aizawa is the only one who believes his wild story, forming an immediate, secret alliance.

There’s also a subgenre of Erasure-affected bonding, exploring how Izuku, whose identity is so tied to One For All, reacts to having it temporarily nullified in training, forcing a vulnerability only Aizawa sees. And you can’t ignore the Coffee Shop or Teacher’s Lounge AU, where they meet as civilians, with Izuku as a barista or a nervous new teaching assistant, and the slow recognition of each other’s true strength happens outside any hero context. It’s a pairing built on hidden softness and mutual, quiet respect for sheer stubborn perseverance.
