A soothing balm for her anger. And at the pulpit, toward the front, another stranger, a skinny young man with hair the color of orange flame and hands paler than her whitest whites, fiddled with something or other—papers, probably—his back to her. Behind him, on the wall above, a life-sized Christ hung on a crucifix. She closed her eyes. Pushed the image of Him away with a whispered . . . “Heavenly Father, allow Your Son Jesus to come now with the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the holy angels and the saints—”

"Mika used to— Come here?" "Well, fuck me now. It's Crassius. Crassius Aurelius. Amika's elder brother. We're dead." "Whoa. He's as pale as she said he was" "Are his eyes real?" "He's actually pretty. Angels of death are always pretty, aren't they?" "Cream?" My head is spinning but I feel her hands hold me. Looking at her again has me flashing faces between her and Mika before I hear her voice. "Cream, are you alright?"

He asked, almost disgusted and felt disrespected as he pointed to the glass picture. Jasmine scoffed as she closed the car door. “It’s their version of Jesus.” She noticed the way Gabriel just stared at the image. “I know it’s sickening to think that people really worship a man who is clearly false. Hair made of wool my ass.” “Well I suppose no one in this age has seen him, but why even make a picture then if no one knows with certainty what he looks like?” Gabriel asked, nearly touching the glass.

It was a mosaic painting of a man holding his wife by the throat, depicting abuse and in-depth emotions. She stretched her hand out to touch the painting and that's when a little boy came running to her. "Miss Rebecca!" Jesus called, dragging his tiny tote bag after him. She looked in that direction. "Jesus! What are you doing here, Jesus?" She exclaimed in surprise and the kid just smiled. "I followed you here, secretly. Don't worry, I left a note for my mom at home. I told her I'm with you." Jesus said, smiling and showing his open set of teeth.

When he returned, he saw his companion animal kneeling next to her bed, muttering something to herself under her breath before making the cross sign. Leaning against the door frame, he questioned her, "You are aware that Christ was a human being, aren't you?" Liberty staggered to her feet and asked, "What?" as she attempted to get up. Aric responded, "Christ, he was a vampire." It can be proven that he was a direct descendant of Saint Januaries. He couldn't help but laugh when he saw the look of bewilderment on her face. He moved to sit on the side of his bed facing her and suggested, "How about I tell you a bedtime story?" as he did so. "How about it?"

Standing in my flip-flops wearing a big shirt with male boxers, my hair a messy ponytail and my body bruised and healing, I really felt loved and worthy when I look around seeing almost a hundred men kneeling at my feet. I'm not just anybody. I'm Arianna Romano, goddess of death. The huntress. The Queen.

The fact that Ama woke up just right after I said some prayers was proof that he was real. I went closer to the front where there was the crucifix. I was not a fan of that because we had no right to try and replicate those things ourselves as we weren’t there and there was no original pictorial representation of Jesus or what happened on the day he died. But I would pray anyways. I exhaled. This whole thing was a burden. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I let them fall. I wasn’t one who cried. I tried not to. But I knew that if I didn’t let it out now I would eventually lose it.

Nathan asked her and Ace nodded. "Just like if we don't sin, Jebus died on the cross for nothing." Ace told her and everyone paused, looking over at him. "Ace, it's Jesus." Jason said, giving him a weird look and Ace furrowed his eyebrows. "No, I'm pretty sure it's Jebus." He responded and Jason rolled his eyes, going back to the topic at hand. "We're gonna go take some pictures and look around and before we leave, we're putting these bad boys up."
