He looks down at Jake’s hand he is offering him to shake and then looks at me.

“I can’t. And he doesn’t want to listen anyway. I think he’s...fuck, I think maybe he’s moved on.” Alvin hummed he already heard about it, and took another drag. The tip of his cigarette burnt bright in the darkness. Alvin always smelled like tobacco and never like alpha. He’d used blockers for as long as Alvin could remember. He said, “If Ash has moved on, then maybe you should let him.” Alex nodded, which went just as well as shaking his head. He sighed heavily and picked up another mug, and then remembered it was empty. He considered the dregs of alcohol at the bottom of the glass for a while and then whispered, “He has a kid.”

Bryant rolled his eyes. “You’re not in uniform, so I don’t have to listen to you,” Alex huffed. “And she’s my best friend. Not letting some random guy go after her,” he added. “Luna, you remember me? I’m David Bryant. And that…” David greeted, pointing past me to the honey-eyed wolf. “Is Mikali Hamilton. Alpha sent us to protect you and your family. He didn’t mention a brother, though,” David explained, giving Alex the side-eye.

They stood around Abbie, looking at her as she slept soundly, recovering from her wounds. "I don't know.
