Her lips slowly pout. Then she scoffs. A second later, a soft laugh slips out, shaky but real.
I take it as acceptance and grin. “Okay then,” I say, lifting my glass. “Let’s drink to it.”
The liquid twirls invitingly as we cheer, clinking glasses and gulping them down. One drink turns into another. Laughter fills the space between us. The alcohol becomes an escape, dulling thoughts, loosening tongues. For a moment, I don’t think about my phone. I don’t worry about Lior texting or not. We sing off-key, curse at life, laugh at nothing and everything.
