“Only one of you will make it out alive.” The world spun as Sasha plummeted into the abyss, the roar of the wind drowning out her screams. The light was blinding, flashing in chaotic pulses that made her head pound. She reached out, desperate to grab hold of something—anything—but her fingers met only empty air. Her heart raced as she thought of Ethan and Jaxon. Were they falling too? Were they even alive? A sudden jolt stopped her descent, and she landed hard on solid ground, the impact knocking the air from her lungs. For a moment, she lay still, gasping, her body trembling. Slowly, she pushed herself up, blinking against the dim light.

I reached out wildly, trying to grab onto anything to stop my fall, and my hands found the front of Susanna’s hospital gown. The thin fabric tore under the strain, but it was too late. The momentum of my fall pulled her down with me. Time seemed to slow down as gravity took hold. I instinctively twisted my body, curling inward to shield my stomach from the impact of my fall. Pain exploded across my back as I collided with the railing before tumbling further down the stairs. Each collision sent shock waves through my already battered body. Finally, I landed awkwardly on the landing, my breath knocked out of me in one painful gasp.

It makes someone corny. I stop and see myself in a fall. Again? I'm starting to have trauma with falls. However, this time I'm no longer at the top of the falls. I'm beneath the falls. I frowned as I saw a person's silhouette bathing under the waterfall. My eyes widened when I saw that it was Akisha. But that wasn’t what made my eyes widen and dropped my jaw but what she looks like right now.

[The Abyss] The fall was not a scream; it was a sudden, violent silence. Gravity tore the breath from my lungs as I plunged into the dark, the silver briefcase clutched against my ribs like a cold, metal child. For a heartbeat, the world was only the whistle of the wind and the terrifying, red strobe of the proximity trigger on my wrist. Then, a weight slammed into me.

At least… for now. Elara pulled into a secluded corner, killed the engine, and sat there for a moment. Her breath trembled, fogging the glass. She had done it. She had actually done it. The six-story building above her was silent at this hour. Perfect. The fewer witnesses who saw her arrive, the safer she was. She lifted a hand to wipe away tears that wouldn’t stop falling. Fear, exhaustion and relief they tangled together into something heavy and unsteady. Her unborn daughter moved again, a small flutter beneath her ribs, reminding her that she didn’t have the luxury of breaking down.

Wanting to entertain him even more, Bailey dug into the rope with extra force. I shouted with everything I had, hoping someone would hear me. Alas, the roaring wind was too loud. All I could do was slam myself against whatever parts of the wall I could reach, creating noise so the workers above would lower me further. It worked. Slowly, they lowered me toward the fifth floor. Unfortunately, by then, the safety rope had been cut so badly that it finally snapped in two. My body dropped instantly, just like a kite that had lost its string.

The only thing that I knew was that we were outside of the room, our struggle with one another still very much heated at its peak and then, in a moment of wicked irony, gravity decided to join its forces in on our battle. We crashed into the banister, the force of our collision sending us falling downward. The world spun around me as I tumbled down the flight of stairs, my body jolting with pain at the impact on each of the several stairs. I clawed at the air, desperately reaching for something to hold on to and stop myself from falling any further than I already had, but my efforts at stopping my fall were in vain.

She grabbed the handle of her closet door and pulled it open, revealing the trapdoor hidden beneath the piles of clothes. Her breath caught in her throat as she descended the creaky wooden ladder into darkness. The musty smell of damp earth filled her nostrils as she landed softly on the ground below. With a sense of urgency, she pushed the trapdoor closed above her, blocking out the dim light from her apartment. In the darkness, Sarah felt her way forward, her fingers brushing against rough stone walls as she navigated the narrow passage. Every sound seemed magnified in the silence, echoing off the walls and sending shivers down her spine.

getting close, and then it rings in my head what she’s about to do. “Oh, sh*t, no!” But she’s jumped off the floor. The air is so freezing and running past my skin with such coldness that I thought it would cut my skin. My cheeks are almost numb, and when I try to open my eyes, tears are slightly escaping from the harsh effect of gravity. I see that we are actually going to fall, and that means we’re going to get crushed by the ground. It’s too far. “What the hell? What the hell? Oh, my heavens, we are going to die.” And we land on the ground.
