When they reached it, she shifted her hand into her wolf form and sliced a line on her arm, drawing blood. She took the blood she'd drawn and placed it in the keyhole. Vivian looked at her skeptically, her eyes holding questions she couldn't put into words.

“Damn it!” In the amusement park’s changing room, Alice unwillingly slipped out of her long, red dress and into a long shirt and long pants that the staff provided. After leaving the changing room, she ran into Neil who had long since been waiting for her at the entrance. “Ms. Alice, our beautiful day has just started.” The little guy leaned on the door, licking on the new ice cream that Joshua bought for him and winked in Alice’s direction. “Later I would like to invite you to ride on the roller coaster, the drop tower and the swing pendulum ride too!”

Mira pulled her close, hugging her tightly, her hand rubbing small circles against Alice’s back. “Shh,” Mira whispered into her hair, her voice like velvet. “You’re safe with me.” For the first time since the woods, Alice let herself believe it. Mira’s room was nothing like Alice’s sterile, silver-laced home. It felt alive. Fairy lights dangled along the edges of the ceiling, their soft glow casting gentle shadows. Posters covered the walls, curling slightly at the corners. A candle burned faintly on the desk, sweet vanilla weaving warmth into the air.

“I want this one, it’s a rainbow! And this one too, with teddy bears!” Millie jumped up, sitting on her bed, almost causing the fall of the gigantic decoration catalog that Massimo had given her. “I thought you already decided on the pink and blue with ponies.” Alice laughed, holding up the catalog full of samples of wallpaper, flooring and toys, before Millie ended up falling out of bed with that folder that was almost as big as her. “But these ones are so pretty too…” her lower lip stretched out in a desolate pout.

“Did you just tip the seller more than three times what you were supposed to pay for the candy because she gave us a compliment?” “Yes. She has very good eyes.” “Travis, please,” Alice said, laughing. “Let's go there next,” she said, pointing towards the play games to win prizes. “I want that plushie,” she said, pointing towards a ridiculously large plushie of a puppy. “No worries. I'll buy it for you.” “No. You don't pay for these ones. You'd have to play to win, and I'm going to win that plushie,” Alice said with determination.
