My voice trembled slightly, though I didn’t even notice. She licked the cotton candy from her lips and said in a soft, childish voice, “My name is Alice.” Alice… My eyes turned red instantly. She had raised our pup so well all by herself. After finishing her cotton candy, Alice wiped her mouth with her small hand. Then she curiously touched my face. “Alpha, why are you crying?” I hugged her tightly as if I were holding the entire world, and all the time I had lost. “I’m not crying,” I choked out, trying to steady my voice. “I’m just happy.”

Peanut growled protectively, glaring at the cockatoo. “Princess?” Alice repeated, eyeing the bird. “Ugh! She’s totally pretending to have amnesia,” Princess flapped her wings and flew to the table. “Come on, don’t fight. The moment she touched her, a vision flooded her mind. She saw herself as a toddler, barely three years old, playing in a sun-drenched garden. A young cockatoo, Princess, danced around her, mimicking her squeals. On a nearby bench, a man and woman watched lovingly.

I asked Oliver just nodded his head. At that moment Alice appeared at the top of the stairs. She looked amazing, like a princess. She had a red dress, with cleavage in the front. Alice smiled to herself as put her phone down and got ready for school. She was still smiling as she brushed her hair and applied her lip gloss, happy with how she looked today. After practically floating down the stairs, Alice greeted her family in the kitchen. “Yay, panda-cakes,” Alice cried, seeing the pancakes. “Thanks, mum.” Alice poured syrup and blueberries onto her stack, then tried to eat the pile of food without messing up her makeup. “You’re cheerful this morning,” Mum said. She gave Alice a suspicious look, as though being happy were a crime, or at least, an indicator of bad behaviour.

The mesmerizing view grabbed her attention. The verdant forest was so green that it could drip water and it was very eye-catching. But Olivia narrowed her eyes as if dazzling, A strand of sadness flashed across Olivia's eyes.
