At the first fork in the tunnel, the air shifted, carrying with it a low hum, almost like chanting.
Naelle whispered, “Do you hear that? It’s… voices.”
Devin leaned closer to the wall, his sharp ears catching subtle reverberations. “Not voices—recordings. Lazarus has installed sound traps to disorient us.”
The hum rose into a crescendo, overlapping with whispers that slithered through the darkness. Some spoke in Turkish, some in Russian, and some in Korean.
One whisper hissed directly into Soo-ah’s ear: “He’s already dead. You’re too late.”
