ALPHA vs LUNA Chapter 2 Octavia jolts back to life, her chest heaving in a rapid motion, she wipes the sweat from her face before turning to the dark sky, the moon and her sisters dancing in them joyously. She turns to her room, her eyes scanning the surroundings for anything that could burn; for fire. But there was nothing. She turns to her side to see a bare man laying beside her, snoring soundly. She heaves a very sigh as she placed her hand on her chest, she was off jewelry except for a precious ring she wore on her fourth finger.

My mom, Daphney's parents, and a few relatives sat in what looked like a tiny, depressing conference room in the pack of Zia's. "What are we to say to the council?" a woman named Elder Marbel finally asked after a few torturous moments of silence. "Honestly, I suppose," the Luna replied. She looked like she hadn't slept in days. "Luna, you know Aiden can't do that. We're barely holding him steady in the Alpha position as it is," she snapped, making Aiden's eyes flash with annoyance. *Holding him steady?* What does that even mean? Isn't he already the Alpha?

The pack erupted into cheers at his words. It took a while before we could calm them down.

We became untouchable - invisible even. North Lotus used to be a force to be reckoned. However, none of that mattered now. We were only living off our previous glory and each day was a futile battle to return our pack to what we once were. A few people say that the day North Lotus collapsed was the day her Mum, Luna Dakota Dolphus, became Alpha. That was the day division birthed amongst the pack and it fed off the fact that Mum was a ‘woman’ and a woman couldn’t be Alpha.

“For a while, I’ve wanted something badly, without actually realizing I’ve wanted that. And yesterday… for a moment, I thought… I have it. That it’s real. It’s true. Tell me, is it true?” A smile spreads across Melony’s face but it fades away just as soon. “Have you ever heard of an alpha being able to telepathically communicate with the beta of another pack? Only an alpha can communicate with members of his pack. But,” she pauses, looking away. “Do you know who else can communicate through minds despite not sharing a pack?” For a moment her words seem too good to be true. But I know that they make complete sense. My heart begins racing in my chest and I feel breathless all at the same time.

They will protect everyone and will protect them by all means necessary. Luna is the mother of the pack. They are caring, loving, and sweet-natured and can usually help control the Alpha if anything they were ever to lose control. Alpha and Luna don’t necessarily need to be male and female, sometimes, the roles can be reversed, and for same-sex couples, it just depends on the birthright or who wins the challenge, if one is ever presented.

She was just caught in the middle. “Last I checked, the Luna is the wife of the Alpha, and a beta is someone that serves the Alpha. So if I am the Alpha, then that should mean that she is my wife and you serve me.” His eyes held mine, and his smirk grew wider. The urge to smack it off his face overwhelmed me, but I knew it would only upset Selena, so I held myself back. “That’s enough, Lucian. I was on my way there, and I would have joined you even if you didn’t come up here.” Selena chipped in and tried to get Lucian to turn around and walk away, but he just wouldn’t.

The wind howled outside the window, carrying the free cries of the wolf pack. At last, I reclaimed my own name. I'm no longer anyone's Luna. I am Tanya.

"You think there’s something more?" I nodded. "Trevor is strong. A good Alpha. But even he is cautious around this one. He’s hiding something." Opie joined us, coffee in hand. "You talking about the Luna that won’t shift?" "Yeah. You noticed too." "I did," Opie said. "She carries herself like a wolf who’s older than she is. More aware. Intuitive. Like she knows something we don’t." Amanda exhaled slowly. "I like her. There’s something wild and gentle about her all at once."

I had no idea what he was saying, but I decided not to take a step like he had warned me. My eyes were shaking, then he said those words that broke me completely "I Alpha Alessandro Russo reject you, Elena George as my mate and future Luna. I have nothing to do with you and so I reject the mate bond." He didn't even give me a chance to say what I wanted to say. Staring at him as tears ran down my eyes, I knew he had no idea I had just lost the child that I was carrying. He had no idea that I had lost my family's and packs trust all because of that night's mistake. The least he could do was to take me in.
