Anna & Hendrix POV From Anna's point of view, the damp cell smelled of mildew and hopelessness, but it couldn't put out the hope that burned in my heart. Hendrix cuddled up next to me, his eyes sparkling with unshed tears he would not let to fall. Being the children of an Alpha, we would not submit to our captors. Our jail walls trembled, dumping dust and dirt on us. There was the distinctive smell of combat, faint shouts and the sound of steel colliding from somewhere beyond.

He is in front of me before I can even blink. ‘Little bird just breathe we will handle this.’ I stare into his blue eyes blankly and shake my head no slightly. This needs to be taken care of now! Then I step to the side and exit the office. I head out of the alpha manor and toward the direction of the packhouse. The cells are underground behind the packhouse. It was a smart design to keep it close that way if anything happens the pack is right there to step in. I hear them behind me just as I make it to the dungeons. Zek and Kira stand outside talking amongst each other until they see me approaching. They straighten up and I see Kira giving me a nervous look probably from the daunting energy

“That’s not what you should be worried about. You are with a child, Allie, so our baby should be your priority.” A snort escaped her lips, and she looked away, only to whip back, her eyes piercing into his. “What kind of an Alpha are you? What Alpha abandons his mate and unborn child in jail? I might forgive you for failing to protect me, but this—” she gestured towards the other prisoners. “It’s unbearable. I am stuck with a bunch of low-life criminals. Who stinks and smells like a fart.”

The prisoners would be left defenseless and vulnerable after breathing in the dizzying scent for just a couple hour. With my dried tears on my cheeks, I was escorted further into the prison. Soon, a familiar scent of mint and pine masked the foul air of the dungeon. At that moment, Harlow stood up from his seat, startled to see me. “Alexa?!” His eyes followed me as I turned to look at him. ‘It’s okay, Harlow. I’m fine,’ I told him through the mind link. “Alexa?! Oh, shit. The Alpha even locked you up. We’re doomed!” Jack groaned in panic from the cell beside mine, clutching his hair.

he explained in a shaky voice. " If you can't remember anything, do you think we have use for you" " Please, I am going to try to remember" he pleaded. " That won't be necessary" I heard Vincent's cold voice coming from the entrance of the cell. The rogue was trembling in fear as he stared at Vincent who had a murderous aura emanating from him. "Al..alpha" his fear was overwhelming "it wasn't my fault" "Don't you think it's too late for apologies?" Vincent approached him and he stepped backwards trembling in fear as he stared at Vincent "don't worry, it's going to be painless" he turned to me " you are going with me" I nodded understanding what he meant.

Levi sneered, gesturing to the chain on Alpha Maeva’s leg, “Alpha Maeva is no different. You have your days too.” The ancient enemies were now mocking each other in this illusion. Alpha Maeva couldn’t help but laugh out loud, but her laughter sounded helpless, “He’s afraid I’ll escape, and there’s also a soul chain on this, and my disciple has been waiting for me for so long, he’s already sick.” Arista hesitated and asked, “He... kept you imprisoned for ten years?” “Yes.” Alpha Maeva nodded, “But he has imprisoned himself for millions of years.” She moved her leg, hearing the iron chain echoing, and said with a smile, “You see, Heaven’s law has forgiven no one.”

And yet, he seemed reasonable and, in a way, reminded me of Aspen when he first arrived. “How long have you been Alpha?” I asked. “Ball park?” He looked down, for the first time since I walked in, not exuding confidence. “How about specifically?” Alicia flanked my side. “About a week.” Which meant less than a week. “The former Alpha was in an accident with a drunk human and had to step down.” A spark of hope grew in my chest. This wasn’t the asshat Aspen had been dealing with. Or at least, that was my guess based on how different he was from what I envisioned.

Had whatever she wanted to inform me been so important that she forgot to remove her apron? “What is it?” I asked. She lowered her head. “My lady… something happened. I thought you should know.” I straightened in my chair, my fingers tightening on the cloth. “Speak.” She swallowed hard, her voice shaking. “Alpha's warehouse burned to ashes this evening.” My eyes widened as I set the cloth aside. “Burned? Are you serious?” “Yes,” she whispered quickly. “The whole building was burnt down. I heard the fire started fast and no one could stop it. By the time they put out the flames, everything inside was gone. Goods worth millions, all destroyed. Not one survived.”

The place reeked, and I couldn't help feeling heartbroken for my mother. Did she stay in this filthy place for all those years? What kind of monster would lock up someone for that long? Only someone heartless like Alpha Pace. If I didn't know how horrible he was, I knew now. I walked down the passage, looking through the cells to check for my mother. Other prisoners were all skin and bones. Like they were sentenced to die from hunger. They couldn't even move. It looked like I had stumbled upon an underground hiding place where refugees were trapped with no food or water.

"Chief!" Alpha Atticus's voice thundered through the corridors, a roar so fierce it seemed to shake the very foundations of the underground prison. He was beyond himself, a man unhinged, desperate for freedom to return to his beloved. His eyes were now bloodshot, the veins in his hands, which gripped the bars of his cell, bulging through his skin like thick ropes. He had been a prisoner for weeks, but in this moment, the walls felt like an unbearable coffin.
