“She has one blue eye and one green.” Before Alex could respond, a warrior broke into their link, panic in his voice. “Alex, Sir” The voice sounded urgent, almost scared. “What is it?” Alex was almost afraid to hear the response. In his gut he just knew it had something to do with the humans. “Sir, the human that Alpha wanted us to watch. Sir, she is injured sir.”

Liviana slammed into the concrete floor with a sickening crunch of bone. For a normal creature, the fight would be over. Her spine was shattered. But as Lachlan stepped forward to crush her throat beneath his boot, Liviana simply laughed. The sound was bright and completely undisturbed. Before his boot could connect, her spine snapped back into alignment with a series of disgustingly wet, popping sounds. She rolled backward, springing to her feet as the damage erased itself in the span of a single heartbeat. My eyes were enormous circles with jagged lines coming out—lightning, maybe. Underneath, in Rowan’s careful, wobbly handwriting: THE KERSED LUNA. The second panel had a moon with angry eyebrows and what I thought might be teeth. A tiny figure (me, presumably) stood under it, frowning. Panel three showed a blob with too many arms, and what I assumed was Malric’s crown, being bitten by a smaller blob with pointy teeth. Panel four was just me again, this time with a wolf tail and a baby in my arms, the angry moon now… smiling? Or having a stroke. It's hard to say.

Immediately our eyes met, he quickly dropped his eyes to the floor.
