I turn toward the door, and wait. No more than a minute after Rylan moves to stand beside me, a line of carriages trudge down the driveway toward us. Rain starts to drip from the heavens as the pack unloads from the carriages. They make their way up the steps, the smell of wet dog wafting in with them. I nod my head respectfully at them as they pass, getting mostly polite smiles in return. When most of the group has gone inside, I feel the Alpha coming. A glance at Rylan, and I know she feels his presence.

Alexa was still standing in front not wanting to move. “Don’t even think!” I pointed my finger at her sharply. She looked at me hurt, turning to the house, but I couldn’t risk anything else happening to her, even though she was a good warrior, she was my only relative and as my younger sister, she would have to lead a pack if anything happened to me. I had 300 souls with me who were willing to follow me and I was grateful I deserved it. “We are ready for the movement Alpha”, Tyron echoed.

Mr Carlos shouted standing up. "I expelled her because she defiled the rules. She had defiled the rules several times and I've overlooked those times but not anymore. Doesn't she understand what's written in the rules?" I asked arrogantly looking at Mr Carlos. "I said it then, you should never have been made Alpha. Brooklyn should have been made Alpha!" Mr Carlos shouted and half the court members nodded with approval. Stupid hypocrites. "Well if that's what you want, You're free to create another pack. I don't give a fuck if you don't like me. I am the Alpha and nothing changes the fact that your Brooklyn is still below me!" I yelled, standing up and everyone kept quiet.

The training sessions had not been long enough but it was still in our nature to fight back. "Aela, let me see you right behind me, now." Alpha Ryan's voice startled me through the mind link. I looked around me, there were about a hundred wolves in front of me and we were moving in a fixed manner, from Alpha to Beta to members of the alpha and beta families, to warrior wolves, to members of the pack and then the omegas. "I said now." He must have felt my resistance. "Yes alpha." I went out of line and ran to the front, ignoring the questioning looks I got. Doe was standing so close to him and so I had to take her side in fear.

I smiled. "What if I did?" He said, trying to be bold. "Even if you did... it would never work out." I blurted. He flinched at what I said and didn't talk anymore. I waited and waited but he didn't say a thing, even his friends didn't utter a word. "She's right, you know?" Misa unexpectedly said, making me look at her. "I'm sure you heard me say it before, you know... when you were eavesdropping. He's an alpha and not just any alpha, he's an elite among elite."

The same instruction the first voice had given me at the original site. Go home. And the specific quality of that instruction in the clean world. Not retreat. Not return to what was. Not go back to the corrupted choices in the familiar places. Go home to the clean foundation and begin. I looked at the young Alpha. “Yes,” I said. He nodded. He turned. He walked toward the valley gate. The other thirteen followed. One by one. Fourteen Alphas walking out of the valley grounds in the first full light of the first morning of the beginning.

said Alpha Stephens. I could see by her face that she had a plan. The pinch of her brows and the set of her jaw were reminiscent of a look I’d seen in the training room. I waited to see what would come and had faith that she knew what she was doing. “But how can a pack fall to pieces because some insignificant omegas left?” And there it was, the first blow to my ego in this room. I almost chuckled when Alpha Dunn grinned at her. “There must be something we can do to change your mind. War isn’t always the answer,” said Alpha Chapman. Dunn raised a brow at the man, disgusted.

“Command me. Make me believe you’re an alpha.” He hesitated, his eyes darting to the side. Then he straightened, his voice steady but strained. “Step back.” It was weak, barely a nudge against my wolf. I stepped closer instead, crowding his space. “That’s it? Try harder, Val.” His jaw clenched, and he tried again. “Step. Back.” Stronger this time, but still nothing compared to a real alpha. I smirked, leaning in until our faces were inches apart. “You’re gonna have to do better than that.”

The scent of blood still lingered in the earth. An Elder who survived, an old and hunched wolf with silver hair, stepped forward with a heavy heart. His eyes met Serena's. "The Alpha left a command before his final breath," he said. Serena's breath caught. "He named you his successor. You are to lead the pack. You are our new Alpha." Gasps echoed around her. Her lips parted, but no words came out. "Me? No. I can't even defend myself in a fight . I don’t even… I'm not even…”

Byron looked at me and didn't move. “Gabe, I knotted. Get the doctor here now.” Shit. He was the Alpha of all Alphas. The king if you will. We pledged ourselves to him, we remained Alphas, but he was stronger, faster, and bigger than all wolves. No pack can run with more than one Alpha without one being the Alpha of all Alphas. We were the only pack in a thousand years to produce triplet Alphas. Twins were extremely rare for Alphas, triplets were incomprehensible to most of our kind.
