’ I mind link my Beta. ‘He’s right here beside me, Alpha. He says he’s on his way.’ A few moments later he walks out and I subtly nod my head at Alpha Steph. He frowns, quickly taking in Steph's altered appearance as well as Lysa and Elena who are still assessing my pack lands. Then he nods. I walk over and gently run my hand down Stephanie’s back. “Alpha Steph, we have your rooms ready for you. We also have several other Alphas who arrived before you. I’m sure you’d like some time to connect with them before your daughter’s ceremony,” I say, gently pulling Stephanie away from her father.

I drove toward Stone Crown Pack's territory. The scenery outside the window blurred past as my grip tightened around the steering wheel. The dull ache in my chest was still there, but I was used to it by now. Liam Kramer's Beta was already waiting outside the building. When he saw my car, he immediately lowered his head. "Ms. Smith, the Alpha is waiting for you on the top floor." I nodded and followed him into the elevator. When the doors opened at the top level, Liam's powerful Alpha aura hit me instantly.

‘Let’s see who’s brave enough to show themselves. Silence blankets the crowd as they exchange glances, uncertainty hanging thick in the air. Jonas steps forward, his voice rising above the murmurs. “I’ve come back to reclaim my place as Alpha,” he declares, his tone commanding. “And I want every one of you to understand that I’m not here to play games. I’m here to protect our pack and our territory.” His mother’s expression softens, pride shining through her worry. “You’ve grown, Jonas. You always had it in you.”

She needed the identity of those Alphas. "You are right. The documents should be in father's study. Let's check them out." As soon as they got to the study, Godiva broke down in tears. She could feel her father's presence heavily because he spent a lot of time there. It wasn't long for Theresa to locate the documents. From the way they were kept in the drawer beside his desk, there was great importance attached to it from everything else. Godiva's last bit of hope began to dwindle when Theresa read the names; "Alpha Alonso, Alpha Storm, Alpha Bond, Alpha Brick, Alpha Caesar, Alpha Jax and Alpha Ice. They are just as fierce as their name sounds."

The Alpha oversees it personally, not because he doesn’t trust others, but because proximity matters — and because everyone knows it. We mark distances on the ground. Five paces. Safe. Ten. Manageable. Fifteen. The bond tightens, heat building behind my ribs, focus narrowing. At twenty, the land responds. Not violently — just enough to remind us that this isn’t theoretical. “Hold,” the Alpha says, steady. I hold. Sweat beads at my temples. The pressure feels like standing in deep water with the current pushing sideways — not drowning, but demanding constant adjustment. Someone shifts nearby.

Stephen is an Alpha, and it’s not difficult to communicate with him using the mind-link. He’s standing between two chairs where a man and a woman are bound. I deduce that they’re Rose's parents. “Give up, Alpha Stephen. It’s four against one,” Reece tells him. He has the same look the gray wolf at the old house had: fear and stubbornness. “You might have won the battle, but the war is just beginning,” he counters. The four of us advance in his direction. “Let’s capture the bastard. We’ll take him prisoner for this,” Eli suggests.

ELIAS’S POV My father’s voice still echoed through the mountain trail as he walked ahead of usq. “Alphas don’t collapse. They adapt. Move!” The path ahead of us twisted upward, narrow and rough. My lungs burned, and sweat soaked through my training shirt, clinging to my back. Every step felt like dragging chains. Halfway up the hills, bodies began dropping. First-year Alphas stumbled to their knees. Second years leaned against trees, gasping, some clutching at their ribs.

I wipe my face and begin walking toward him. "I will leave you alone, Alaska. I know you are committed to Finn, and I should let you be even if we are mates. Maybe we are not mates, and maybe I am just crazy because you told me no," Alpha says. He gets to the edge of the water and leaps into the air taking his wolf form. He begins running toward the pack house. FUCK! I come out of the water, leaping into the air and taking my wolf form, chasing him. Why am I chasing him?

Me? Could I actually be an Alpha?

Hunched and bound in chains are both the Beta and Gamma. We all take a collective step back. "We will wait," the Alphas both agree. "And as soon as we see the right opportunity, we will move in and slaughter all of those witches where they stand."
