He turns around and looks at me. “What did you do today?” He asks. “Nothing,” I reply and he gives a half smile that does not touch his tired eyes. “So your name’s Derek?” I ask out of the blues and the way his eyes widen in astonishment tells me I caught him off guard. “Yes,” he says, quickly picking himself up from the shock. “How did you know that?” He asks softly. “The scary wolf with black eyes called you Derek. Is he the Alpha?” “Right, Nate. Uh, he’s not the Alpha. He’s my best friend. One of the strongest werewolves in the territory.”

Mykel’s wolf was silver, a breed of wolf known for their extraordinary gifts. This year was our turn to hold the annual Alpha meeting. Ever since Mykel stepped up and took over from his father, he had avoided each one with the excuse he wasn’t ready. But not this year, had we refused to accommodate it would have been seen as a great disrespect to the surrounding packs as well as those who are coming from further away.

He barked, dropping the telescope on the ground and shifting into a magnificent black wolf. “What’s wrong? Rogues?” Alexander shouted from behind. Then his wolf sprinted down the road, sending the dirt flying in the air. “Help! Somebody please help!” The faint and anguished voice spurred his wolf on as if the missing part of his soul was calling to him.

The Alpha commanded everyone. Five minutes later, everyone, including Luna Lisa, had shifted. The Alpha took the lead, with his wife by his side. Off, the entire pack went running into the woods. Barely thirty minutes into their run, a loud howl filled the night. The entire pack stopped running and turned to the wolf who let out an agonized howl. It turned out to be Luna Lisa. Two female wolves went to her and she let them know the baby was coming. They communicated this to the entire pack using mind-link. At once, the Alpha shifted back to his human form.

There is no fear on her face. "Girl, you don't know anything about me, I told you, I have the power of more than fifty packs of rogues under me. Did you hear me?” Wolf Alpha laughed. “I heard you, I know everything about your fifty rogues pack. But as I said, you don’t know Crysler Dark. He already has defeated all of them, and he is now the Alpha of all of those packs with not rogue wolves, but his warriors. An army of his wolves." Lucy said. A peaceful smile came upon her face. AND all the blood drained from Wolf Alpha’s face. It seemed as if Lucy dropped a bomb over his head.

Josh snickers out and I can’t help but smile. “Yes, it most certainly is. There are twenty-four ranks for wolves: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota, Kappa, Lambda, Mu, Nu, Xi, Omicron, Pi, Rho, Sigma, Tau, Upsilon, Phi, Chi, Psi and Omega.
