With a hushed click, the book’s cover sprung forward, revealing a shallow cavity. Inside lay a folded parchment sealed with crimson wax: the Ember Circle’s original charter—and a second, smaller key of burnished silver.

Zephyrus’ POV I went inside Annabeth’s house, hoping to get some lead on Lena’s whereabouts. Annabeth gestured for me to sit on a couch while she sat opposite. Under the dim light, I saw the bright, highly reflective crystal ball on the table, the size of a grapefruit. I sat down, watching her work on the crystal ball. She lighted two candles on either side of the obsidian crystal ball. With her half-closed eyes, Annabeth placed her hands on the orb, muttering some chants to create a perfect scrying spell.

But amid the chaos, Amelia noticed something glimmering behind a tapestry of shadows. Her intuition guided her, and with a burst of speed, she dove toward the hidden alcove. Behind the tapestry, she found an ancient tome, its pages marked with cryptic symbols and writings that seemed to pulsate with otherworldly energy. In a desperate attempt to find answers, Amelia flipped through the pages until a particular passage caught her eye.
