“We’ll see.” Amelia left the room without bowing her head. ⸻ Alejandro was standing by the window when Amelia walked back in. The room was almost dark, lit only by the cold moonlight. He held a glass of whiskey, but he hadn’t touched it. “What did she want?” he asked. His voice sounded rough, tired. “To tell me the price of your little outburst,” Amelia said. Amelia wasn't stupid. She knew she was in danger so she hid in the mall bathroom until Kalia came to pick her up. She exited at a different site than she entered. She'd turned off her phone so that Alex couldn't get in touch with her. As far as she was concerned, she'd taken precautions not to get caught. When she looked around and no one was there, she hopped into Kalia's car. "I feel like I'm part of a spy movie," Kalia said.

Amelia's POV. Someone's hand fisted in my hair and my head snapped to the back. Pain shot through my scalp and I gasped. “Please….. let me go” I pleaded, my voice filled with desperation. Tears blurred my vision, falling from the corner of my eyes. Why me? They dragged me back to where I was before I ran, my body scraping against the floor. “Where do you think you are going, pretty?” They asked. “Please…..” My voice cracked. “Just let me go”

“Mr. Penking anticipated resistance. He asked me to remind you that your brother is one phone call away from an unfortunate accident.” Amelia’s hands clenched. “He wouldn’t.” “Try him.” She couldn’t. She couldn’t risk it. The woman gestured toward the bathroom. “Shower. Now.” Amelia walked into the bathroom like she was walking to her execution. The water was scalding. She stood under it until her skin turned red. When she came out, the woman was waiting with makeup. Hair tools. Jewelry. “Sit.” Amelia sat. The woman worked in silence. Foundation. Mascara. Lipstick. Her hair was curled, pinned, styled.

I looked at Simon who had his eyes wide open. "I.. I.. didn't." Alpha Alexandra wasn't buying my stuttering defence. He beckoned Crane to come and Crane walked like a fulfilled man to us. I felt like I was stabbed. Alpha Alexandra asked him to get Amelia and I had hope Amelia would come to my rescue. Crane moved out immediately and my mind went ablaze, I couldn't concentrate anymore.
